Many of the soldiers maintained life long friendships with the people of Wangaratta. The bottle was donated to the museum by Ron and Joan Parker for use in the exhibition ' A history of the Vineyards in Sunbury' held in the George Evans Museum in 1996. The vineyard was planted in 1992.Conventional bronze green glass bottle with indented base. Cream, gold & maroon printed labels. On the front there is a map impression of Longview Gorge in Sunbury. On the back there is geographical and historical information about the vineyard. The bottle was donated to the Council by Hedley Elliott for an exhibition in the Art Gallery (George Evans Museum). The label is printed in brown and cream and features a sketch of the Goonawarra Winery and surrounding area. There is a brief statement on the back about the winery and the background to production of the wine. On the back is a hand-written label, stuck on with clear tape giving an account of the origin of the bottle of wine, its donor and storage instructions. The flagon of port was released for the commemorative cricket match Australia versus England to celebrate the "origin of the Ashes" at Rupertswood in Sunbury on the 18 January 1995. A cricket match took place at Rupertswood in 1882, a ball was burnt and the ashes placed in an urn (according to local legend). The flagon is number 56 of a limited edition of 2000.These flagons were produced for the re-enactment of the original social cricket match held at Rupertswood in 1882. The commemorative cricket match was held in January 1995 with Allan Border captain for Australia and David Gower captain for England A cream and green glazed flagon with sloping sides. The lower half of the flagon is cream with a red, green and yellow insignia to commemorate the "origin of the ashes" cricket match and a brief history of the game. The upper half and neck is green. This well-known Kew business, which would become known as The Model Dairy, was founded in 1863 by James Venn Morgan. Morgan sold the company in the 1890s to John Simonton who renamed the business The Model Dairy Co. Simonton had experience in the local dairying industry having previously leased the Willsmere Park Dairy. He moved the business to Belmont Avenue in c.1899. In 1924, following his retirement, the company expanded to become The Model Dairy Pty Ltd with Arnold Thompson Simonton and John Tanner as its owner/directors. With new techniques and processes such a pasteurisation, the Belmont Avenue site no longer met required standards for processing and bottling, so its operations moved to 191 Cotham Road. The company celebrated its centenary in 1963. A new factory, built in 1959 to a design by Bates, Smart & McCutcheon, was purchased by Bib Stillwell Motors after the dairy closed. This First Aid Case was used which was used at the the former Carnegie Senior Citizens' Centre. The centre was located at 314 Neerim Road, Carnegie. When the Neerim Road facility closed, its activities were moved to the Carnegie Library and Community Centre. Cream metal first aid case. Case is hinged on the long side, and has a handle and latch on the side opposite the hinge. Blue, gold, red and cream "Sanax First Aid Ambulance Case" label on lid featuring cross icon and flaming torch icon. Cream enamel paint has been painted over the exterior of the case, minor areas of overlap on label. Interior of case is split into three sections. Two narrow brackets on interior of lid to hold pen sized items. One rectangular bracket on interior of lid to hold paper or card. Two round mounting brackets on top edge of case. These are the 4 surviving daughters of Thomas Henry Deakin (1845-1915), born in Monmouthshire, Wales and his wife Janet (Jessie) Longmore (1851-1939), born in Morayshire, Scotland. The couple also had 2 sons: John Henry (1879-1962) and William Andrew (1883-1939). A fifth daughter Daisy Jessie was born in 1880 and died the same year at the age of 7 months. Elsie Longmore Deakin (1881-1969) was a nurse ans remained single; Minnie Winifred (1886-1966) married Charles Williamson in 1923; Lily Vipond (1890-1943) married David Mair in 1910 and Jessie Alice, known as Alice, married Hector Williamson in 1921. Hector and Charles were brothers. Elsie Longmore Deakin enlisted AANS aged 35 years in 10 May 1915; embarked on the Mooltan on 22 August 1916. Her three years of training were completed at the Melbourne General Hospital. She embarked with the rank of Sister for India and was appointed to the Victoria Hospital, Bombay. In January, 1917, when she was transferred to England and a Military Hospital at Bagthorpe later to the 1 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, and in January of the following years to 25 (British) GH in France but returned a few weeks later to England and the 1 AAH after suffering a seriously strained left ankle. She returned to France post-war and served another four months before being returned to Australia in May, 1919. Her appointment was terminated as medically unfit on 9 June, 1919. Born South Melbourne, she died in Elsternwick on 14 October, 1969, aged 87. Rawleigh & Co. was established by William Rawleigh in America in 1889 and later expanded into Australia. The company made a variety of household products in a factory in Collins Place, Melbourne, between 1930 and 1935. It specialised in medicines and remedies, food additives, cleaning products and toiletries. The name Rawleigh was synonymous with service and quality products. W.T. Rawleigh was the forerunner in using the “direct-to-customers” method which took the Rawleigh products, bypassing the jobber and the dealer, taking the shortest distance directly to the customer. Rawleigh knew that most people were not familiar with his goods or his name and realised that leaving his products with his customers for trial would later produce good sales. He was certain that they would use the product, like it, and buy more. The "time and trial" system was the forerunner of the Rawleigh Guarantee of Satisfaction. W.T.
