Photos shows a Melbourne, MMTB, double-deck bus painted in an all-over livery for the Buy Bonds Let's fill the 3rd Liberty Loan - World War 2 campaign. Has images of Winston Churchill and Australian Prime Minister John Curtain on the side of the bus. The bus is a Leyland TD5c type. In the background is a bus with a James Motors 1925 body, which were remounted on K6 International chassis in 1942 - 1943. Photographed at North Fitzroy Depot. These buses were used to replace the cable trams in Bourke St from October 1940. John Curtain became Prime Minister on 7 October 1941 and died on 5 July 1945. James Garland Colliver lived and worked in Linton between 1863 and 1875, when he moved to Donald. He was actively involved in Linton's business and community life. (See Colliver family file at LDHS.) This photograph may show two adjacent business premises on the east side of Sussex Street, north of Clyde Street: Edwin Ball or Ball Brothers, blacksmiths, and J.G. Colliver, "Machinist". The Ball and Colliver families were related and are understood to have worked collaboratively. Black and white photograph of an illustration of the Beaumaris Horse Tram. The photo shows the tram being pulled by 3 horses with several passengers on the top level. The Beaumaris Tramway Company commenced operations in 1887 between Sandringham and Cheltenham railway stations, and managed to survive until 1914. The tramway was operated by Charles Henry James in an attempt to sell land developed by him at Black Rock, Sandringham and Mentone.
