Neil Godfrey served in the Army (NX136354 (N280367)) enlisting on, 21/10/1942 in Oakleigh, VIC before being discharged from duties with the ARTY POOL NSW L OF C AREA as a Army Non-Commissioned Gunner (GNR) on 29/12/1944. Neil Godfrey WALKADINE was not a prisoner of war. His next of kin is Ethel WALKADINE. A photo of Barbara Leach, volunteering with a badge tray, and a bag piper in the centre of St Kilda Road. The slogan says "Please buy a badge". It appears to have been professionally taken to publicise Legacy Week in the newspapers. The photo appeared on the front page of the Herald Sun on 6 September 1991. The accompanying articles says that police piper Constable Ross Bates played outside Legacy House to pipe in Legacy Day, which saw hundreds of collectors spread across Melbourne for the badge appeal. The appeal was aiming to reach $500000 to beat the previous year's total of $467,702. The reference number 910906/9 could mean the date was the 6th September 1991.
