This is a wall decoration intended for a child's room or centre. It shows Humpty Dumpty and a girl nursery rhyme character and is believed to have been on the wall in a children's ward at the Warrnambool Hospital. The painters were A&A Henderson of Ballarat, believed to be Angus and Andrew Henderson who had a sign-writing and house decorating business in Ballarat in the early to mid 20th century. The business operated under the name Henderson Brothers. Angus Henderson was a well known Ballarat signwriter who taught signwriting at the Ballarat Technical Art School in the 1940sThis is a piece of cream canvas material on which are painted two nursery rhyme figures in various colours. This school had its origins in the establishment in 1913 in Timor Street, Warrnambool of the Warrnambool Technical School which later incorporated the Warrnambool Technical College. In the 1970s the Technical School section was relocated to Caramut Street, Warrnambool and in 1990 was re-named Brauer College (after a local doctor of note, Doctor Alfred Brauer, a prominent supporter of technical education in Warrnambool. The Timor Street location is now the site of South West T.A.F.E. The water tower on the corner of Pakenham St and High Street Echuca, was designed by Sir John Monash, who was an innovator in the use of reinforced concrete. The tower cost £2,973 and was completed in 1915. It is 108 feet high and holds 150,000 gallons. it was originally connected to the steam powered pumping plant at Echuca East. John Monash was a war hero at Gallipoli in 1915 and also went on to be the Manager of the Victorian State Electricity Commission. This prescription book contains the entries of a chemist shop in Timor Street, Warrnambool from 1911 to 1946. During that time there were various chemists in the business trading for most of the time as R.F. Kennedy and Co. and later successors to R.F. Kennedy and Co, with one known name being that of J. Paterson. Richard Frank Kennedy established his wholesale, retail and manufacturing chemist's business in Warrnambool in 1880 and it became a leading business in Warrnambool. After Kennedy's death in 1903 the business continued as R.F.Kennedy and Co. The entries in the book show the type of medicines and prescriptions used in Warrnambool over a period of thirty years.This is a significant item, firstly because it is a record of an important business in 20th century Warrnambool and secondly because it is a great social record of one aspect of the health of residents in Warrnambool and district at that time. The entries include the name of the customer, the details of the prescription and the directions for use of the tablets or potions. Michael Ryan, born in Ireland, established his business in the Apothecaries Hall in Timor Street, Warrnambool in 1867 and sold it in 1877. This book is of great interest as an example of a Warrnambool chemist's business in the 19th century. The Academy appears to have operated from the late 1960s to 1982 and two teachers named in the scrapbook were David and Audrey Nunn. The chemist is unnamed but the clients have Warrnambool names and a loose envelope in the ledger addressed to 'Mr H.F. Sambell' suggests that the chemist business may be that of Sambell and Son in Fairy Street Warrnambool. John Sambell established this business in Fairy Street about 1890. He died in 1906 but his son Herbert had joined the business and it was known as Sambell and Son for many years and later as Sambell, Son ad Granddaughter.This prescription book is of interest as a record of a chemist's prescriptions in the early 20th century and it has considerable research value.This is a ledger of 496 pages . Max Cust, a breadcutter and relief driver at Twites, used this ledger to record the bread delivered in the South Warrnambool area. He lived in Banyan Street, Warrnambool and worked at Twites for a great number of years. This ledger is of interest as an example of the way bread deliveries were recorded in Warrnambool in the mid 20th century and tells us a little about many of the people living in South Warrnambool at that time.This is a ledger of 285 pages. This is the roll book of the Warrnambool State School Cadet Corps. It covers the dates 1894 to 1896. The information in the note book contains the names of the male Cadets and their commanding officers, attendance details, some of the Corps rules and the total numbers in the Corps at the time ( 46 on the roll in 1894 and 39 on the roll in 1895.) The Cadet Corps in Warrnambool was operated by the local Volunteer Corps which was established in 1855 and had several name changes over the next fifty years. Warrnambool State School Cadet Corps was established in the mid 1880s and the local private Grammar School had a Cadet Corps at the same time. School Cadet Corps focussed on drill exercises, rifle target shooting and bayonet practice. The bank opened in temporary premises in Timor Street and in 1869 it moved to a new stone building on the corner of Timor and Kepler Streets which it occupied until 1975. In 1988, as part of a local Bicentennial project, the Shire of Eltham conducted the Eltham Community Photographic Survey. Up to 100 entries were to be selected by a panel of photographers for entry into the Eltham Photographic Survey Exhibition. Entries had to be submitted by May 13, 1988. Entrants whose images were selected for the exhibition were contacted and requested to further submit an entry form providing entrant’s name, area of residence, age, and proposed captions. These details were then used to produce labels for the exhibition mounts. Where negatives had not been supplied, these were requested to support the display of printed enlargements mounted on 10” x 8” cardboard. The mounted prints were made available post exhibition for sale at $8.50 each for colour prints and $7.00 for B&W prints. Residents in the Shire were invited to collect a free roll of film and take a photograph of what they either liked or did not like about the area. A total of 160 entrants submitted multiple entries for the exhibition. Of those selected for exhibition, entrants ranged in age from 9 to 70 years. All custom colour and black and white printing for the exhibition was completed by Wattle Studios of Eltham.
