Book of 10 All Day Tickets, numbered A000001 to A000010 printed for the Ballarat Tourist Tramway, contained within an off white front heavy paper (front cover) and off white card back cover sheet, with a two staples on the left hand side. Each ticket is from a light yellow card stock, printed with green ink showing the month of issue on the sides and date of issue (1 to 31) on the top or bottom. Each ticket is numbered and has a perforated left edge to enable it to be torn from the book. Ticket punched by the conductor to shown the month and date of issue. On all tickets, just to the under the staple is a vertical heavy green band. Used from late 1975 until March 1986. Item collected for archives on at time of issue. Collected for Archives 30/6/2004. Used by a cable tram conductor to record the number of 2d fares collected from passengers. The Bell punch recorded the number of times a hole was punched in the slip. They were used by the cable trams until the mid-1920s when they were phased out and replaced by "flimsy" paper tickets. The item has been punched many times. Printed for the Tramway Board (1916 to 1919). Has space for 44 journeys. On one side, has space for the name Line, Date, Badge, car, time of starting, and signature, if a student conductor. Printed for use in the down direction. Produced to celebrate the end of the First World War. Folds out to reveal coloured illustration with caption: Decorated dummy and car which, electrically illuminated, traversed the Melbourne cable tramways in celebration of peace, on the evenings of Monday and Tuesday, the 14th and 15th July, 1919. Second copy has a note regarding the trams - dummy 482 and trailer 510. Has the images of the King George V, Field Marshall Foch, Lloyd George, King of Italy, and President Wilson on one side. Has the printer's details in the bottom right hand corner of the last sheet. By 1910 revenue from the Beech Forest railway was $15,500, working expenditure $12,000, with a net loss (including interest charges) of about $4,000. This and the following year were the lowest net losses ever experienced. Passenger journeys rose steadily, outwards goods traffic rose to a record 12,959 tons (in 1911), and inwards goods traffic was a record 3,359 tons.. The railway station possessed a goods shed, stock race and yards, engine shed, coal stage, crew cabins, a refreshment room, and a four-roomed station building, with the station staff to match. Beech Forest was the principal despatch centre at this stage for split timber. Bill Devitt laid a timber tramway to the Beech Forest railway station to cart the palings for on-shipment..B/W. 177mm x 271mm. A general view from the eastern end of Beech Forest station in 1910. Cast iron tobacco cutter (McMillan cutter). It is a guillotine style cutter used to cut plugs of tobacco to put into smoking pipes. The cutter is held to a wooden base with screws and has a well-worn wooden striker plate. (Originally painted black). Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Book of 10 All Day Tickets, numbered A001001 to A001010 printed for the Ballarat Vintage Tramway, contained within an orange colour front cardboard (front cover) and brown cardboard back cover sheet, with a single staple on the left hand side. On the front cover is stamped the first number of the ticket block. Each ticket is from a light yellow card stock, printed with green ink showing the month of issue on the sides and date of issue (1 to 31) on the top or bottom. Each ticket is numbered and has a perforated left edge to enable it to be torn from the book. Ticket punched by the conductor to shown the month and date of issue. On all tickets, just to the left of the staple has been printed with the Printers name and phone number. On the cover, the same information has been impressed on the cover as well, but no ink. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Block of 100 tickets - green ink on off white paper, with ticket number in green ink denomination 50c, headed Ballarat Vintage Tramway. On rear in green ink is an advertisement for the Tram Family Restaurant, corner Macarthur and Drummond St. North. The 100 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy brown cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small brown cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. 2210 - A000001 to A000100 (The first block collected at the time of issue 6/3/1988) The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Tickets in use as adult return fare from 12/3/88 to 30/6/91 and child return fare from 1/7/1991 to 1/11/98. Note last block issued 8/1/1991.
