The first all transistor hearing aids appeared in 1953. They were created to replace vacuum tubes; they were small, required less battery power and had less distortion and heat than their predecessor. The vacuum tubes were typically hot and fragile, so the transistor was the ideal replacement. The size of these transistors led to developments in miniature, carbon microphones. These microphones could be mounted on various items. There were body hearing aids where the earpiece was connected to the hearing aid and battery pack worn on the body. Ear level hearing aids consisted of eyeglass, behind the ear (BTE), in the ear (ITE), and in the canal (ITC, CIC) hearing aids. Hearing aid with Pink and silver metal pack with attached wire to ear piece. Uses (A) battery. Ear piece moulded for wearer with dials for adjustments. In original box. Transitone and Universal Hearing Aids were manufactured by British Hearing Aids (Aust) P/L. Model 61T. NoV848 "TRANSITONE & UNIVERSAL/HEARING AIDS/BRITISH HEARING AIDS (AUST) P/L" printed on fabric inside lid of box. Inside battery compartment, label "MODEL 61T" ('T' handwritten) "V848" inscribed on hinge.

It is believed that is item was constructed by a veteran in the 1920s. An identical cenotaph to that in Whitehall, London was constructed outside Parliament house in Spring st Melbourne,Australia.This model could be an engineering model for our Spring st version. please contact Caulfield RSL if you have more information. A highly accurate well detailed brass scale model,22 cm high of the original first world war memorial the "Cenotaph" at Whitehall London the UKs national war memorial. An identical cenotaph was constructed outside Parliament house in Spring st Melbourne, Australia.The design is made up of a rectangular base a broad pillar and the cenotaph or coffin on top of the pillar. 3 wreaths also feature, 2 on the narrower sides of the pillar with the years 1914 and 1918 and one wreath on top of the coffin. It has 2 coats of paint on it the second(exposed) being a poor uneven coat of, off white gloss enamel, possibly just house paint.No makers marks or date can be found on the exterior of the model. Visible are the words " THE GLORIOUS DEAD" on each of the narrow sides of the model above each wreath is a year in Roman numerals.One side side for the beggining of world war one "MCMXIV" 1914 and "MCMXIX" 1919 for the official endcenotaph, whitehall

This ship of 375 tons had the distinction of carrying the Reverend Richard Johnson - the first chaplain to the colony - and his wife. After returning to England to work the London Jamaica run, she disappeared from records after 1804. She was built in 1780 at Whitby and was skippered by Master Sharp for the first fleet voyage. The supply was the smallest of the fleet being only 170 tons and 70 feet long. Carrying 50 people and skippered by Captain Henry Bull, she led the fleet most of the way primarily because of her speed. Little is known of this brig's early history, but it seems she was built in America in 1759 and was commissioned by the Admiralty in October 1786. Black box containing a Matrix Braille writing machine, with a 24mm-wide paper spool attached to the feeding mechanism. Corner of box is hinged and lifts up to reveal keyboard. Top half of box lifts to reveal Braille writer which is bolted to a wooden base that can be lifted out. The base is secured with a metal latch. Machine has black Bakelite keys with rubber pads beneath make this a "silent" machine; wooden case has black leather-like covering, hinged lid, metal clasps, and leather handle on the side.
