Photos 051/267 and 051/268 are 2 copies (one named) of a black and white photograph showing a Working Bee at the Menzies Creek Hall site. Photos 051/269 is a close up of the left side of the photo, showing Carol King, Grace Martin, Barbara Haig and Mrs Haig, along with Lyn Hermon (baby) and Jay Hermon (toddler). Photo 051/270 is a close-up of Rodney Haig, with Mr Martin in the background wearing a hat. Other men can be seen in the background. The photo shows the land being cleared in preparation for the building of the Mnezies Creek Hall in 1953. Tall trees are in the middle and background. The hall is situated on the south-east corner of Belgrave-Gembrook Road and School Road.

Yields information about the formation of the BTPS in 1971 and some of the people who attended meetings etc. and about the closure of the Ballarat tramway system.Two Newspaper clippings pasted onto a single sheet of paper with two Punch holes on the left hand side. First clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, Monday, 31/5/1971, titled "Society formed to Preserve Trams" (newspaper date, with page 2), about the formation the previous day of the BTPS at a meeting of the Lake Wendouree Tramway Museum Committee with a membership of 55 people to retain a tourist tram system for Ballarat. Gives names of the elected office bearer, details of proposals, some costs, alternative sites and that a tram was chartered before the meeting. 1071.1 - photocopy of the article added 24/1/2008. Has the names of those elected highlighted in pink ink. Second cutting dated "14/7/71" from the Courier titled "Three stage plan for phasing out of trams" of the three stage plan for phasing out of the trams in Ballarat. The plan was announced by Transport Regulation Board the previous day. Excavation done, first main curve rail being positioned using a crane. Date of photograph late November 1974. Depot Junction in background. BTPS Annual report states that site work began 22/11/1974. Provides the law and licencing provisions relating to the use of buses, omnibuses in Victoria, including Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. See also Reg. It was the first Adelaide Class Guided Missile Frigate (FFG) to be decommissioned and was scuttled at 14:00 on Sunday 4 October 2009 in 28 metres of water off Ocean Grove, Victoria to create an artificial reef and diving site. At its peak the Beech Forest railway employed more than 21 staff between Colac and Crowes. Gangers (men in charge of the track gangs) tended to be promoted into the Otways but many of their subordinate repairers were local recruits. A few of the men who worked in the original construction gangs of 1900-1902 remained and obtained positions in the track gangs along the line. The track was maintained by seven three-man gangs based at Colac, Barongarook, Gellibrand, Banool, Beech Forest (2), and Lavers Hill. However, track gangs lessened as the line shortened. Commercial realities and bushfires caused the Beech Forest community to re-establish itself around the railway station, away from Gardner Hill. This caused John W. Gardner to subdivide his land on the north side of the railway station. One subdivision was created near the Ditchley railway station on the old racecourse site, and another of 25 allotments forming what became Southorn Street. There were very few takers for these lots nor any buyers for the Ditchley subdivision.Photocopy. 260mm x 159mm. An advertisement for the sale of the Ditchley Park Estate, Beech Forest. Photograph, Crowes: Terminus of the railway line, 1911

The terminus of the railway, and the southern-most station on the Australian mainland, was Crowes, approximately 2 kilometres from Lavers Hill. The line ended at "The Black Stump". Crowes was designed as a fully functioning terminus and received a complete instalment of facilities. The site was laid out with three roads plus a dead end siding for a locomotive shed and ash pit. Goods sheds, a platform and livestock ramps catered for freight loadings, while on the north side was a station office, waiting room, parcels shed and passenger shelter. Three departmental residences were also provided. The resident Station Master was withdrawn in November 1916 and the station closed with the line on 10 December 1954.Photograph. Page 2 shows a litle girl in national dress laying some flowers at the base of the Memorial and a little boy looking on. The second photo is the unveilling. Page 3 shows the plaque on the left and on the right is the Memorial and standing behind it are 6 men, Rod Fyffe is on the left. The two flags behind them. Page 4 shows some children, 2 in national dress, the flowers at the base of the memorial and the men and flags behind them. The second photo is a close up of the side of the Memorial and children in national dress, the flowers and some of the crowd. The inscription reads: On this site Hungarian Officers and Soldiers sought their luck as gold miners after the suppression of the 1848 Hungarian Revolution. In Memoriam. The Melbourne Hungarian Community Centre and the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dr Istvan Gyurk Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary. Beside the inscription is an emblem.
