The first edition of this magazine was produced by associated elementary schools in the Omeo Shire. The magazine was published from 1920 to 1927 and 1963 to 1969. There was a special issue in 1985. In all issues there is writing by children from schools that have since closed down.This item reflects the changes in education in East Gippsland and is a useful comparison tool for literacy teaching. The bible was used at St David's Presbyterian church (later to become the Uniting Church) Waubra. When the church was closed in the early 2000's. It was donated to the Learmonth and District Historical Society Inc by Ken Fraser who had attended the church.It is an object that represents of over 150 years of the Presbyterian Church in Waubra, Victoria.A black covered Vinyl bible. Tickets printed and issued by the Victorian Railways for the St Kilda to Brighton electric street railway or tramway. The line closed in sections with the last section between the railway station and Elwood Depot closing in 1959. All tickets numbered for accounting purposes.Yields information about the VR Ticketting System for its TramwayslSet of 7 Victorian Railways St Kilda Brighton ticket blocks. Printed on white sheets, stapled at the top with a large staple onto a cardboard backing strip. Each value in red ink with black print information. Each block has the ticket number printed on the stub of the ticket that remained with the block when torn off. Were printed in blocks of 200. 1 - 2d tickets nos 178027 to 178199 - for use between Glenhuntly Rd and Carlisle Street. 2 - 3 1/2 - backing cardboard removed and some tickets removed from the rear of the block - Nos. 747011 to 747182. 3 - 4d - Nos. 20007 to 20195 - some tickets at the rear removed including the stubs, 4 - 4d - No.s 513612 to 513791 - cardboard backing and some tickets at rear removed. Label, Watson’s Whisky, c. 1907
This whisky label comes from the bottler of the whisky, Tattersall’s Hotel, Warrnambool. This hotel, at the corner of Liebig Street and Raglan Parade, opened in 1866 and closed in 1996 and was a prominent hotel in Warrnambool during that time. Patrick King was the licensee from 1907 to 1909.This label is of some significance as one of the few labels we have connected to a Warrnambool hotel and one of the few mementoes of a prominent Warrnambool hotel, Tattersall’s. This is a small sheet of paper with gilt edging, lettering in white and black and some decoration which includes leaves and stalks of barley. One corner has been torn away. The Gaol at Portland was in operation as early as 1852. It was reproclaimed in the Government Gazette, along with several other prisons in the colony, in October 1877. In 1892, it was proclaimed a Police Gaol, under the provisions of the Gaols Act 1890. Sanax First Aid Ambulance Case
This First Aid Case was used which was used at the the former Carnegie Senior Citizens' Centre. The centre was located at 314 Neerim Road, Carnegie. When the Neerim Road facility closed, its activities were moved to the Carnegie Library and Community Centre. Cream metal first aid case. Case is hinged on the long side, and has a handle and latch on the side opposite the hinge. Blue, gold, red and cream "Sanax First Aid Ambulance Case" label on lid featuring cross icon and flaming torch icon. Cream enamel paint has been painted over the exterior of the case, minor areas of overlap on label. Interior of case is split into three sections. Two narrow brackets on interior of lid to hold pen sized items. One rectangular bracket on interior of lid to hold paper or card. Two round mounting brackets on top edge of case. Contents include five glass medicine bottles, plastic tablet container, metal tweezers, two pairs medical scissors, glass eye dropper, brass thumbtacks, cardboard instruction booklet, rubber tourniquet. Container - PERSONAL TRUNK, 1944
Metal trunk issued to F.G. Davey for his personal effects which were shipped home to Australia after WW2.Part of the Frederick Gardner Davey DFC collection. Refer Cat No 3536PRectangular metal hinged trunk painted black. A hinged metal handle in on each end and at the back. Each handle is secured with metal rivets. The lid is secured closed with two 'Closebind' catches A brass locking mechanism is located on the front of the body and is accessed through a keyhole. The interior is painted grey with a brown leather seal around the edges of the lid. Various markings in white paint appear on the lid, each end, the back and the front. Paper stickers are glued onto the lid, back and right hand end. Inside the lid is a manufacturers plaque and year of manufacture printed in black.On lid: 'J13/S, F.G. Davey, VIC, R/124, RAAF Central Repository, West Melbourne, Vic'. On front: 'J13/S'. On Left hand end: 'J13?S 90 VIC, P410533, Davey F.G.'.
