This milli-volt meter was manufactured after 1950 and used by the SEC Vic (Kiewa Hydro Electricity Scheme) from that date until late 1900's. It was used to measure very small voltages associated with the operation of the various Hydro Generators. The readings were able to be shown by the resistor in use in the current circuit. During this time period, high quality testing instruments were either sourced from Europe or England.This milli-volt meter is very significant to the Kiewa Valley as it was used by those electrical technicians, who were part of the Kiewa Hydro Scheme. An "off spin" from the Scheme was the beginning of an explosion in "human" resources into the Kiewa Valley. This influx of population transformed the region from that of a basically quiet rural region to one which evolved into both industrial and larger residential community. This evolution in the Kiewa Valley created a change, not only in the "physical" landscape(better roads and infrastructure), but also the socio-economic growth within the Valley allowing other "tourist" based industries to expand within the valley and Alpine areas.This millivolts DC meter was used in the 1950's. It is contained in a wooden box and has two coloured (red/black, positive and negative) screw tight knobs which have bake-lite connections. It also has a covered (black tin) view meter marked from zero to 10 millivolts. Underneath this and within a round bake-lite is a small adjustment screw. The top of the box is fastened onto the main structure by six brass screws. The back of the structure is fastened by eight brass screws and there are four small bake-lite rest knobs.On the face of the millivolt compartment , and at the top "TO BE USED WITH DIAL HORIZONTAL TEMP. Funeral procession of Francis Thomas Le Page leaving Church of Christ, Chesterville Road, Cheltenham. Minister of church lead procession followed by members of the Star of Moorabbin Order of the Sons of Temperance Friendly Society wearing broad collars. F.T. Le Page was a councillor for 25 years and served as president of the Shire of Moorabbin in 1902/3. He died on 12 December 1927.Nicholas and Rachel (nee Addy) Le Page migrated from Geurnsey to Australia in 1852 with their young son Francis, who was less than a year old. They first lived in Prahran, setting up their own business and after about two years decided to move to Cheltenham and take up market gardening. The Le Page family has been associated with region ever since and have taken on many roles of prominence including local politics. The 3 front blocks facing Union Road were subdivided off in circa 1967, so this building now faces Barton Street. Since 1984 it has been a private residence. It was originally built in c1890 and from 1896 it was used as facilities for Surrey College, a private boys' boarding school. Dr F Darling was Principal. From 1935-1960s it became Nethercourt Private Hospital. This had previously operated from 1921 in Wilson Street. Later it was known as St Jude's Hospital; this closed in 1983.Black and white photo of Nethercourt Private Hospital taken from Union Road. It is fronted by a paling fence and with a vacant area in the foreground, on which there is a bare-leafed mature tree to the right and an evergreen tree to the left. HMAS Bathurst (J158) named after the City of Bathurst NSW is the lead ship of 60 Bathurst class corvettes that were constructed during WW2. The Bathurst was constructed in 1940 her early career was spent operating with the British Eastern Fleet. Bathurst returned to Australian waters in 1944 and was deployed to New Guinea i n 1945. Bathurst was paid off in 1946 and sold for scrap in 1948.There were 60 Bathurst class corvettes constructed during WW2 the photograph in this collection is HMAS Bathurst the lead ship of 60. In this collection there are photograph albums, diaries and documents relating to W2156 Noel G Hernan, Stoker, including Sailor's Pay Book, Balmoral Naval Depot Identity Card, Entitlement to War Gratuity, Clothing Ration Card 1945-46 Issue, letters, newspaper cuttings, train tickets, a booklet 'V for Victory, Notes for Guidance in the Wearing of Campaign Stars and War Medals on Civilian Clothes. All of these items are the originals of W2156 Noel G Hernan and the photograph albums and diaries are those collected and amassed by W2156 Noel G Herman. This photo came from an album of photos associated with the Grant Family of Bulla. The album was in poor condition and so the photos were removed from it for archival storage. They were numbered in the order they appeareed in the album. Most of the photos were of the creek area in Bulla; a few contained figures. Lama Zopa Rinpoche visited the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion in September 2014 to lead a six-week retreat, encompassing teaching on Shantideva’s ‘A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life’ (Bodhicaryavatara). During the retreat he gave an extremely rare oral transmission (lung) of the 21st chapter version of the Golden Light Sutra. He also gave a talk on the benefits of stupas at the Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery. Lama Zopa Rinpoche (1945-2023) was the co-founder and spiritual director of the Foundation for the Preservation of Mahayana Tradition (FPMT), dedicated to the transmission of the Mahayana Buddhist tradition worldwide through teaching, meditation, and community service.
