Part of the small collection of uniforms in DAHC's possession. Like most of these uniform this one stems from the 1950's. The shoulder insignas indicate a "Genie" division (Engineering Corps).Many of the 1950's period uniforms came from people that had been discharged after having served in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) during the Indonesian Indepence War.Part of Dutch army uniform: (1) dress jacket with (2) cotton dress belt, (3a) leather belt with (3b) cross belt, (4) khaki tie and (5) cap with names W. van Reed//Dorland on the inside. Jacket has brass buttons, NL lion embroidered on sleeve, "genie" emblem on shoulder strap and rank sign (one star - Lieutenant) on collar. These are two administrative record books from the Warrnambool Town Council which took over from the Warrnambool Borough Council in 1883 and existed until 1918 when it became the Warrnambool City Council. .1 Warrnambool Town Council letter book dating from 1904 to 1918 containing copies of letters written by the Rate Collector, Thomas Beattie .2 Warrnambool Town Council Contract Book dating from 1902 to 1909. The contract details include the name of the supplier or tradesman and the costs. Some of the contracts deal with the Corporation Baths, the Botanic Gardens and town tree planting. Hat belonged to Julie Jones née Foley, now Heritage Programs Officer, City of Whitehorse. Worn for Grade 2 (1960) and Grade 3 (1965). Julie started school at Blackburn State School for Prep and Grade 1 and was on the waiting list for St Thomas The Apostle's in Blackburn. A vacancy came up for Julie to start in Grade 2 (1964). The teacher was Ms Goody and the building was 'an outdoor building separate from the main building'. Her sister Christine was in Grade 6, and she wore the hat first. St Thomas' was co-ed for primary level (Prep- 6) and girls for form 1 - Form 4 (highest level). The hat was hand me down from Christine. Note: Blazer and tunic are in our collection (NA4565.1-2).Caramel coloured straw hat for St Thomas The Apostle's Blackburn. Edge bound in the same colour on turn up brim. The ribbon (grosgrain) around the crown is in the matching colour and has a flattened bow at the back. Petrol rationing was gazetted in May 1941. Australia's lack of fuel storage options and the diversion of tankers bringing fuel here forced the government to begin rationing. Initially it was proposed that consumption should be reduced by 50% but this was modified to 1/3 reduction. People had to apply for a petrol licence and this was then used to obtain ration coupons. Initially coupons were issued on a 6 monthly basis but this was reduced to 2 monthly and allowed people roughly 2000 gallons per year. Coupons allowed for 1, 2, 5, 10, 44 and 100 gallon amounts depending on need. eg. private, commercial, farm use. Rationing was strictly enforced until 1942 but remained in effect until 1950.WWII One Gallon Fuel Ration Card: 5 x cream cards with blue flecks some attached with perforations in red and black print. At the top in red is "Motor Spirit Ration Ticket" issued under national security (liquid fuel) regulations. 1 One Gallon either side and at the bottom "This ticket must be endorsed by consumer with name and licence number". These albums were put together by Allen Clarke, who worked for the State Electricity Commission of Victoria for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club. He collected theses press cuttings, put them in these albums and donated them to the Mt Beauty Senior's Club.1. On 1 April 1991, ‘A’ Squadron 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles linked with 4/19 Prince of Wales’s Light Horse Regiment to form a new regiment of two squadrons: VMR Squadron and PWLH Squadron. The minutes of the Bendigo RSL Sub Branch Committee. .1) The first entry s on 22.2.1960 and the last on 3.12.1974. .2) The first entry is on 33.2.1975 and the last on 2.12.1991. .3) The first entry is on 3.2.1992 and the last is on 4.12.2000. A note on the last minutes 4.12.2000 hand written by the then Secretary Jack Barnes OAM & highlighted in in pink states this was the last meeting of the Bendigo RSL prior to becoming Bendigo District RSL Sub Branch Inc. A Croze is a tool used by a cooper for cutting a groove of a barrel, cask, etc., into which the edge of both the heads of a barrel fits. The cooper uses a Croze to cut a groove into either end of the inside of the staves of the bucket or barrel so the lid or bottom would fit securely against the wood. These four tins were used to make the ANZAC Day rum and coffee at the Soldiers Memorial Institute Hall to be served after the Dawn Service. (Bendigo RSL Sub - Branch) It was brewed on the electric stoves in the old kitchen on the side of the building. It was made from Chicory Essence coffee, milk and a small amount of water, a bottle of Rum was added to each when near ready. These were used for many, many years up until about 2006 when new containers were used.
