Three letters pinned together. The first is a handwritten letter to Mr Granger from Marie Crawford (Maranta) dated 5/5/32. She mentions that at the present time second mortgages are worthless for her experiences in investments first are of little value. Signed Marie Crawford (Maranta). The second letter is to the Secretary of Hanro from Marie Maranta advising that she has changed her name, by marriage to Mrs M Crawford and she authorises the Secretary to make the necessary alteration in the Register of Members. Dated 5//532. The third letter is dated the 9/5/1932 to Mrs M Crawford acknowledging her letter and notification of change of name. The Secretary also mentions the matter of alteration of 8% Preference Shares to Second Mortgage Debentures. Mr Archibald William Muirhead, of 7 Colby Drive, Belgrave Heights (then called Glen Rd) stands to the left of the cart with his left hand resting on the wheel and his right hand on his hip. His left leg is crossed in front of his right leg. He is wearing a light-coloured suit. Sitting in the cart are two women and a boy and a girl. The girl is Pam Harris. They are on a dirt road with trees on either side. Behind them is a cleared area with more trees in the background. The photo was taken on Glen Road close to Monbulk Creek. On the back of the photo is printed '1627'. It probably dates to the 1940s and is part of a collection of family photos donated by Pam Harris, Shire of Sherbrooke President, 1982-1983 & 1987-1988.

Five page handwritten letter on light brown or fawn lined paper within a brown envelope within Reg. Item 2488, page 105. The envelope has been glued to the back cover of the book and is address to "Mr. James Inspector / Electric Supply". Seven overseas stamps have been stuck to the envelope. The letter dated 11/10/1937 from an unknown person who lived at 305 Eyre St Ballarat, not signed, outlines the building the horse tram depot in Wendouree Parade. The person put in a quote as the plumber. Notes various aspects of working on the site, materials, difficulties, Thompson and Moore of the Adelaide as the contractors, number of people on the job, problems with the construction, wind damage, building the workers cottages, their rooves and the cash boxes for the conductors. Item notes that the Govt was planning to re-organise the SEC and the trams are likely to come under the control of the MMTB, or the Transport Board. Bob (Herman) Hymans (a former member of the Royal Netherlands Navy) was born in Bloemendaal, Holland on 30th September 1922. During World War II he fought against the Japanese in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) and was imprisoned in Changi and on the Burma Railway. After gaining qualifications as a Ski Instructor, Bob arrived in Falls Creek in July 1950. Working as an Instructor and Supervisor at Bogong Lodge, Bob decided his future was in accommodation. He was successful in negotiating an indenture for land from the State Electricity Commission (SEC). It took Bob two years to build his Grand Coeur Chalet but, tragically, it was burned down in August 1961. Bob also built the first Chairlift in Australia. This was a single chairlift and the structure was built from wooden electricity poles. He was constantly full of new ideas and proposals for the village. Bob Hymans died on 7th July 2007. This Collection of documents and letters tells the story of Bob's endeavours to develop Falls Creek into the ski village it is today.This item is significant because it documents proposals put forward by Bob Hymans to develop facilities in the Falls Creek Tourist Area.A letter of application from Mr Hymans for the lease of land offered by the State Electricity Commission to develop a tourist hotel. His hotel would provide accommodation for 100 guests. It would contain a dining-room seating 140 and cater for guests and day-visitors. Other facilities included a lounge, public-bar and lounge-bar facilities. A private lounge for reception would also provide guest and convention facilities. His project was designed as a year-round resort hotel. As well as serving as a winter sports hotel, the plan featured indoor facilities including a heated swimming pool, squash courts, bowling alley and sauna bath. Stables, a tennis court and boats would also attract year-round tourism. The budgeted cost was £130,000 plus bowling alley equipment. Whetelaw, officer in charge of the local survey branch, Mines Dep't accompanied by Inspector Ross, made their first inspection. Water has reached the 3224 ft. level. Now 1530 feet of water in shaft, including the workings below the 3324 ft. level. Bailing been carried on at the Victoria Quartz, Lansell's 180, 222, and New Chum Consolidated. It will take a week or more to get the Lazarus plant in readiness. Then the shaft will have to examined.
