The book is filled with Minutes of meetings and has two paper insertions - a paper photopcopy of an Invoice Wandin Yallock April 30th1909. Mr Aitken for The Evelyn Preserving Co. Limited Manufacturers of Pure Jams and Jellies. Terms Cash. On the same paper The Colonial Bank of Australasia Limited stating a Sale and acknowledgement receipt of a letter and the enclosure of a remittance, signed by the manager. The second insertion is dated Sept 1950 - a Survey of cost of Production Berry Fruit Wandin Silvan Area. Youngberries. Based on Land at 100 pounds per acre and average 2 ton crop. Container - Flagon - wine, END OF AN ERA - WORKS DEPOT, pre 1994
The flagon with port was issued to recognise the end of the Shire of Bulla Works Depot. The port was from the Mt Aitken Estates in Gisborne. Public Works previously administered by the Shire of Bulla went out to private tendering.A cream and brown glazed flagon with sloping sides. The lower half of the flagon is cream with brown printing. The upper half and neck is brown. There is a black unbroken seal over the cork and the port is still in the flagon. Frank Millett and his nephew Hopper Cahill are the two people standing by the building after spending the day shooting rabbits in 1922. They are standing in front of the Aitkens Gap Police Barracks. In the 1860s the gaol and stables were sold to George Millett and added to the Millett property. The Barracks and the new farm homestead were built by Mick Morrison. The Bald Hill Hotel at Aitkens Gap on the Bendigo Road (Calder Highway) was guilt by George Millett in 1854 and functioned until the gold began to run out after the Victorian Gold Rush of the 1850s. The Millett family continued to farm until 1967. The family also and operated hotels in the local area.
