Badge made to promote fete held at Clarendon Presbyterian Ladies College in 1922. According to the school history 'The lamp burns brightly' a special committee of the school ouncil were appointed to organise a great fete in August 1922 to raise money towards the purchase of new property in Webster/Mair Streets. "The Oriental Fair transformed the Ballarat City Hall for three consecutive days. Stalls of many types were heavily laded, and, as one reveller commented, 'The perpetual motion of the fairty floss machine, producing its quaint confection, was an object of interest and wonderment to many, and the crack of the pea rifle in the adjoining shooting gallery almost dispersed the feathery flakes of fairy floss as they issued from the magic machine'. An arochestra provided continuous music, varied at times by vocal solos, eurythmic displays and other enterainments. the fair raised the remarkable sum of 1,576 pounds." The Clarendon Old Collegians Association existed from very early times in the school history and was a singificant controbutor to school socail capacity and infrastructure. These ribbons were worn on the Clarendon Ladies College (CLC) uniform summer and winter hat. The CLC accessories were worn in the 1900 - 1910 era. After 1920 the school changed its name to Clarendon Presbyterian Ladies College and the crest reflected ths change. Prior to the early 1900s students wore dark skirts and white blouses and ribbon ties. Formal photographs taken at Speech Night saw the girls in frilled and lace white dresses. The sash was donated by Berenice McDade on behalf od Gladys Forsyth (CLC 1919) and Dorothy (Johns) Lawrence (CLC 1918).
