Presented to Ken Hill by the artist Josef Thum as a token of his friendship. Thum was an Austrian POW at Camp 13 who was permitted to assist Ken Hill who was a mobile cinema operator, as a member of the Australian Amenities Service - AAA's Mobile Cinema Unit No 36 - around 1946-47. Donor is daughter of a member of Australian armed forces who served during WW2, and was member of garrison at Camp 13 after the war, in 1946. Donor was researching her father's service & obtained at her expense copies of these archives held by the AWM, related to daily activities in the camp during the time that her father was posted at Murchison. Records show, amongst other things, troop (garrison) movements, routine orders, outcomes of disciplinary proceedings. Copies of archival documents obtained from AWM, specifically Australian Army war diaries / intelligence summaries pertaining to Murchison POW group (Camp 13). For periods: 1. Jan-Mar 1946; 2. Photos taken by Col McTaggart engaged in the removal of the original Camp 13 hospital building after the occupation of the camp by the State Rivers & Water Supply Commission Construction Branch c.1956. The building, bought by Mr. Henry, was transported to Corop in three sections, the high central section now a private residence located on the cnr.
