There is also the remains of the old well. The old smoke house used to be down there also. All these things have disappeared a long time ago. The house is the only thing that remains of the Schwerkolt property. The wine cellars and other buildings fell down years ago after the bush fires burnt the wooden supports. You will notice the toilet has about 3 boards off the top. Alice Bertha Schwerkolt was the second daughter of Louis and Francesca (nee Both) and the granddaughter of August Johann and Paulina Schwerkolt. In 1913 she married William Tanner.|The donor Rosemary Tanner had married Edgar William Tanner and is the daughter-in-law of Alice Bertha.Framed sepia photograph of Alice Bertha Schwerkolt ( 1891-1954) in an afternoon gown. Proceedings were opened in the Visitors' Centre by Barbara Rogalski whose father had catered for the Cottage opening in 1965. Rosalie Whalen (nee Schwerkolt) spoke about her early years in the area, after which the group walked to the cottage where a plaque was unveiled and a tree planted. The verandah posts on the corner have rotted away and let the verandah down a foot. The roof on the kitchen is in a bad way. You will notice the chimney has a lean of about a foot.
