The remaining trailers 2 and 3 (after Nos 1 and 4 had been motorised) and a line of Duncan & Fraser tramcars in the depot. The broken paving and heaps of sand suggest that the tram shed is being extended to add roads 3 and 4 to the west. That would date the photo as 1914. Regattas were held on the Barwon River at the terminus of the South tramline which was linked directly to the other suburban destinations, Newtown and West Geelong. The standard fare was 3d cash or, for some shorter "sectional" journeys, pre-paid 2d tickets. Demonstrates how the SEC used etched signs to provide information for their staff.A small, etched brass metal plate reading "SOLE AGENTS AUSTRALIAN GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 217 CLARENCE STREET SYDNEY AND C/R QUEEN AND LITTLE COLLINS STREET MELBOURNE H.R.9266". The etched lettering background has been painted black, with the lettering proud in brass. Although the reverse was originally painted, much of the paint has worn off. Recovered from tram 14 during the project to rewire the trams. New light fittings are 24V rather than 125V DC.Demonstrates an item to hold a Edison Screw lamp inside a tram.White ceramic base fitted with a brass formed Edison Screw lamp holder fitted with screw terminals and brass parts. Set of four tram tickets, late 1920s, all MMTB, with the same layout though different pricing. 1 - 2d - green paper - No. 197269 with an advert for Osram Valves - British General Electric Co. Ltd 2 - 2d - green paper - No. 527291 with an advert for Stephens Ink 3 - 3d - pink, No. 870414, with an advert for Kiwi Polish 4 - 4d - fawn - No. 688076, with an advert for Stephens Fountain Pen Ink. All these tickets were recovered by the donor from the inside of a tramcar that was sold by the MMTB during 1928.Yields information about the type of tickets issued by the MMTB late 1920s.
