The campaign, initiated by Melbourne Water is called Drains to the Bay and aims to teach people that rubbish finds its way to Port Phillip Bay via drains and creeks.

But chief commissioner, Morton Browne is pleased with the vision his council has presented for public discussion. That vision includes postal voting, simple preferential counting, triennial elections and the introduction of seven, single-member wards.

The Pipe Bridge at Greensborough is a significant and highly visible part of the system. It was constructed to carry the wrought iron aqueduct pipes over the Plenty River. The use of wrought iron meant the pipes were 75% lighter than cast iron, with the bridge construction reflecting this innovation. Photograph of the Maroondah Aqueduct pipe bridge at Greensborough. The Pipe Bridge is 210 feet long, divided into 4 spans. The main girders are light lattice 11 feet deep and 11 ft 4 inches apart. The bridge carried two wrought iron tubular mains, 53 inches in diameter, supported at intervals by cross girders and chairs, placed between the main girders. The bridge is carried on braced cast-iron columns, 18 inches in diameter, set on concrete foundations, with a clear headway of 20 feet above the Plenty River. By Faye Michelson Maroondah gamblers lost just over $27 million on the city's 477 poker machines during the last financial year. Victorian Council on Problem Gambling spokesman, Rob Wootton said research showed that most money spent on gambling came from the household budget. Welfare agency budgets have been stretched to the limit.`

"Hostel for school site", and P3 "New look likely for school site".A thirty bed aged nursing home facility will join the Ringwood Bowling Club at its new home on the former Norwood Primary School site in North Ringwood. Construction of both facilities commenced early in the new year, after the former bowling clib site was sold by Maroondah Council to Coles Myer on January 5 for over $5 million.

Council hit over kinder 'lock-out'.A North Ringwood kindergarten president has slammed the Maroondah Council for locking her out of the kindergarten without notice. Oban pre-school President, Liz Broadbentsaid she arrived at the kindergarten last Thursday to find the locks had been changed. A council spokeswoman has admitted the lock change was an oversight and the original locks have since been replaced.

Fees will increase at various Council leisure facilities. Ringwood Lake and Croydon Park have been declared alcohol-free zones for the duration of the Festival of the Foothills on February 15-16. Newspaper Clipping from The Mail, 18-6-1996, P3 - 24 hour TradingMaroondah Council has rejected a planning application for a licensed club complete with 50 poker machines and betting facilities, at the rear of North Ringwood Shopping Centre. The club was to have been developed by local real estate agent Alan Dickson, and located at the corner of Oban Road and Dockson Cres. A total of 96 objections were lodged with the council, and petitions with 2697 signatures were received.

By John Cooke - MIX OF OLD WITH NEWA recount of votes in Loughnan's Hill Ward failed to overturn the result in the most hotly contested ward of last weekend's first Maroondah Council elections.Despite attracting only 1014 first preference votes - fourth highest - Joe Cossari went on to win Loughnan's Hill by 247 votes from former Ringwood councillor Yvonne Kaukas after preference votes recorded by six other candidates were distributed.`

Newspaper Clipping from "The Mail", 13-6-95. "Assault figures jump in city area"'.Assaults in the City if Maroondah last month more than doubled over the April figure. Apart from the increase in reported assaults, overall crime reports in May were down by 83 on the same time last year. Ringwood CIB Senior Sergeant Jenny O'Toole said publicity, co-operation from the public and increased patrols by uniform and bicycle police were heloping to reduce the number of burglaries.

Ringwood was proclaimed a city on 19 March 1960. On 15 December 1994, the City of Ringwood was amalgamated to form part of Maroondah City Council. The detailed years are: 1924-25, 1926-27, 1928-29, 1930-31, 1932-34, 1934-35 and 1944-49. For researchers, the rate books are in assessment number sequence. Occasionally, they is also in surname or estate sequence but do not rely on this. The original records are kept at PROV, North Melbourne. At 13/3/2021 the bulk of the collection is being processed ready for a bulk load to Victorian Collections. The Willsmores were Wales Ringwood first customers and still have connections with us. The front of the house is in the same position as present Westpac premises.
