Typed letter addressed to the Town Clerk Ringwood from the Secretary of Ringwood Rose Society, dated 8th August, 1939. Report from the Borough of Ringwood with note about formation of a Rose Society.Letter outlines a proposal by the Rose Society to cultivate the planting of rose in the Municipality.

Catalogue card reads, "Greenwood Park Kindergarten" (3 scenes). Note same young girl (unidentified) is in all 3 photos.

This is a photograph of Archie Dickson and his wife, Emma ( nee Wainwright), who was married in 1900 to Archibald John Dickson (1855-1930) There is an article noting his death in the Age newspaper, Melbourne, Thursday 12 June 1930, page 6 which reports him to have been the first white child born in the Orbost area. James Thomas Dickson, his brother, was the manager and then licensee of the Commonwealth Hotel in Orbost from about 1903. This postcard was produced as a black and white card titled, "Early 1900 - Bush Hut , Gippsland", in the early 20th century. The original card had a blank white rectangular strip on the right side of the photograph. This was for the message. There is little information with this item except for a note indicating that it was a hut at Newmerella. This is a pictorial record of a bark hut of the kind built by the early settlers of East Gippsland. Few early settlers could afford the time, or possessed the capital, to build any dwelling more impressive than a slab hut: Postcards form a vital part of social and historical records for researchers.
