Prepared by Les Denmead, typed by PB. Ballarat - typed carbon copy - two sheets, are taped together. Gives details of where purchased from , date of purchase, type, body builder, seating capacity, overall length, overall height, overall width, condition of tram, trolley base, Lightning arrester, controller make and type, Truck Maker and type, type of truck, axle type, wheel base, axle diameter, motors type and maker, Motor horsepower, Armature bearings, suspension bearings, gear teeth, Air compressor make and type, Brake Valves make and type, Governor make and type, Weight in tons and details of advertising space in racks. At base has typed (original) list of trams of the two types, single truckers and bogie trams. List of trams includes the scrubber and No. 20 which was scrapped prior to system closure. Used by conductors or conductors to retain and sell tickets from.Demonstrates the method of dispensing tickets by conductors, how the tickets could be arranged. Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat tramways and how they were presented.Sheet of leather, approx 2mm thick, stained brown with four pockets formed on each side with another sheet of leather, stitched on all sides to form pockets to hold eight blocks of tickets. Stitching is a white colour cotton. Used by tramways to indicate the position of the person to a passenger or another employee. Most likely made as a general production item by Stokes for tramways and railways.Demonstrates an item made to indicate the wearer's position of the tramway employee.Uniform Badge for a "Conductor". Manufactured by Stokes and Sons, Melbourne. Made from a cast brass item and then nickel plated. Cast in the form of the handwritten or script word/s and underlined and rounded to fit on a cap. On the rear, silver soldered on are two brass loops at either of the badge to enable to be sewn or fitted with clips onto a cap. The system was offered to the City of Ballarat when the tramway operations were being tendered. Shows two open top double decker electric trams, the centre conduit, advertising Holdens Dining Rooms and the three story buildings in the background and a horse drawn coaches.In ink on rear. "16a" and "In 1885 Holroyd Smith of the United Kingdom sent a tender to Ballarat to construct a conduit tramway in that city, similar to the one he had constructed in Blackpool United Kingdom in the same year. By 1910 revenue from the Beech Forest railway was $15,500, working expenditure $12,000, with a net loss (including interest charges) of about $4,000. This and the following year were the lowest net losses ever experienced. Passenger journeys rose steadily, outwards goods traffic rose to a record 12,959 tons (in 1911), and inwards goods traffic was a record 3,359 tons.. The railway station possessed a goods shed, stock race and yards, engine shed, coal stage, crew cabins, a refreshment room, and a four-roomed station building, with the station staff to match. Beech Forest was the principal despatch centre at this stage for split timber. Bill Devitt laid a timber tramway to the Beech Forest railway station to cart the palings for on-shipment..B/W. 177mm x 271mm. A general view from the eastern end of Beech Forest station in 1910.
