James Hamilton (1740-1827) joined the fledgling Methodist society and became a local preacher. He helped John Wesley to organise Methodism in Scotland. In the early days of the establishing the new secondary campus many of the school signs were handmade, often by staff member Frank Scambler, but also by dedicated parents and friends of the school. This work is the result of a series of interviews with committee members of 69 Smith Street Gallery, an artist-run gallery that operated in Collingwood between 1998 and 2016. These interviews taken between 2010 and 2011 feature artists who went on to form the creative group known as the 69 Collective.This work was part of The Line exhibition at Collingwood Gallery in 2018. The brief given to participating artists was to present works using the theme of the horizontal line. The artworks, in a range of mediums, were hung with a consistent line travelling through each piece around the perimeter of the gallery space. Early settler William Farndon built 'Callum House' and it became a guest house. This photograph is taken in 1911 and shows guests and members of the Farndon family. The coach is a Campbell's Coach. Callum House later became 'Bonvenu' and then 'The Oaks'. No 1 Molesworth Street was at one stage the home of our member Elizabeth Mackie. She believed the house, like Mynda at 5 Molesworth Street was designed by the architect Lloyd Tayler. The small box was donated to THS by the Trentham Police Station. The set was used to mark with a serial number objects belonging to community members for identification in case of items being lost or stolen. For example items such as bicycles were often marked.
