Souvenir - Bay of Islands Championshiop trophy
Informal 12 hole golf event, played on Grand Final weekend. This event was started by a group of friends when there were few official golf tournaments played at Peterborough. The event was a stroke event with "mystery handicaps" ie you didn't know your handicap until you finished playing. The event was played on the Sunday of Grand Final weekend (except initially); Friday night traditionally was tea at Boggy Creek Pub and a Fishing Comp on Saturday. The name came about because three of the regular players, Ivan Voss, Bob Loader and R. McKendrick had a hut at the top of the dunes near Crofts Bay. They had a clinker boat on the beach as well. They subsequently built a house in Childers St. It ceased when the original participants were no longer able to play. The date of the first winner is 1980, last recorded winner is 1995. No longer played. further information required. Winners: 2nd August 1980 F. Photograph Farm Land, Mount Beauty Acreage before Golf Course, Circa 1950
This photograph is a "snap shot" in time circa 1950s detailing the rural environment before the effects of the Kiewa Valley Hydro Scheme altered the basic rural setting of the valley. The golfing fairway was being mapped out on previous grazing land, before the laying of a golf course, for use by the construction workers and auxiliary administration employees of the Victorian State Electricity Commission. This photograph details a dramatic period in time which saw an enormous change to the exclusively rural area of the Kiewa Valley region in the mid 1900s. This change presented both physical and mental challenges to the existing quiet rural inhabitants of the valley. The State of Victoria had to make adjustments to the changing demands imposed by population and industrial expansions. The development of cleaner energy supplies to a growing population has its downside ,which ever way the intrusion into the "natural" landscape is made.Black and white photograph detailing surveyor posts for construction of golf course. Land used, before establishment of the Mount Beauty Village, as farming/grazing cattle and viewed towards Mount Bogong and its Alpine ranges. The photo is on 200gms paper and not on photographic paper.nilmount beauty in the 1940s - 1950s, grazing in the kiewa valley, sec victoria -

Golf Club Trophy, 1950
This item comes from the estate of Dorothy and Agnes Ardlie of Warrnambool. Dorothy Ardlie (1910-1993) and Agnes Ardlie (1915-1993) were the daughters of Arthur and Ethel Ardlie of Warrnambool, the granddaughters of the prominent Warrnambool lawyer, William Ardlie and his wife Mary and the great granddaughters of John and Mary Ardlie, pioneer settlers in Warrnambool. The trophy was won by Agnes Ardlie in 1950. The Warrnambool Golf Club was established in the late 19th century and the game was played by both men and women at Albert Park until 1929 when it shifted to its present day course in what was once part of the old Western Reserve. This trophy is of interest as a mid 20th century memento of a member of a prominent family in Warrnambool, Miss Agnes Ardlie and of the Warrnambool Golf Club. This is an electro-plated nickel silver mug with a circular base, a tapering body and a handle. It is much stained. There is an inscription on one side of the mug and a maker’s name on the base but this is not decipherable. Warrnambool Golf Club ‘B’ Grade Scratch Event 1950 Miss A.M. Photograph, Morack Golf Course, C1970
In 1970, the area now known as the Morack Golf Course was rezoned from 'Rural' to 'Public Open Space'. This allowed planning to go ahead and by 1973 sufficient land had been acquired by the Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works. The course was first open on 8 May 1976 as a nine-hole course. This was extended to 15 holes by January 1980, and to eighteen holes by 1981.Two coloured photographs a-b of the early days in the development of the Morack Golf Course.
