Set of two newspaper cuttings, March 1953 regarding the roster, - one-man tram dispute in Geelong - 1953. Both cuttings pasted onto off white paper. and Newspaper name and date type on the top. .1 - "Geelong Trams May Stop After Sunday" - date obscured due to silver fish damage, some time between the 20th and the 29th - regarding a potential strike of Geelong tram crews due to grievances with the roster, walking times. Notes union had been re-registered at the time , but did not have an award. Quotes Mr. T. Farr, Mr. C. McDonald and that there were 85 men in the traffic branch. .2 - "Hearing Tram Dispute tomorrow" - dated 31st March 1953 - dispute to be heard by Chief Conciliation Commissioner, Mr, Mooney tomorrow. An electrified tram route from Melbourne along High Street replaced an original Horse Tram that terminated at the Kew Cemetery. This new tram only reached the bridge over the Outer Circle railway at the Harp Junction. Photocopy of an article in the State Electricity Commission of Victoria Magazine, Contact, Vol 1, No. 4, Feb 1937 titled "Electricity Supply for Buninyong" and "Ballarat Trams in Picturesque Setting". Each item had a thin strip of paper attached by staple to the top left hand corner, giving the Vol. No. details. The first story features the provision of power to the town of Buninyong on 14/1/2937. The supply was provided by a 6.6kV line running from Sebastopol. The second story with a photo of a line up of 7 trams in the Gardens following the annual outing of the Pleasant Street State School trip to the Botanical Gardens and special trams in general. SEC Tram 17 and a former bus used as a food vendor stand, that has finished up in the front of S.E. Dickins Pty Ltd. (Grocers) store 1/10/1949. The tram derailed at the intersection of Sturt and Grenville St. collided with the bus and pushed it into the front of the store. Many people standing around the incident, including two trammies in front of the tram. Thought to be a Ballarat Courier Photograph. Wal Jack's caption advises the Bedford van was a doughnut kitchen. 1020.1 - added 3/06/2006 - small newspaper cutting with the same photo and a caption "While the driver was picking up lunch at Ashkar's pie shop, his tram ploughed into Dickin's grocery, on the present site of Norwich Plaza".
