Maryanne COUTTS (1960- ) Born Australia Maryanne Coutts studied at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), The University of Melbourne, 1979 -1981, the University of NSW (UNSW),1984 and achieved a PhD at Federation University Australia in 1999. She has exhibited extensively throughout Australia and internationally including UK, Spain and Thailand and is currently Head of Drawing at the National Art School, Sydney. At the botttom of the painting, Walgett council dug up two old Kings sitting up face to face with their legs crossed, with their Tin King plates around their necks; Their head bands of kangaroo teeth were still inbedded in their skulls. The water dog stories are at spots along river "don't go down thereon the bend (Namour Researve River) the water dog witll get you" Nan used to tell us. It is believed that the water dog makes whirlpools and will drown you. He makes a druming sound, which can be heard along the Namoir, Barwon, Darling, Gwydir, Mihi and the Narran River; and the Duck is part of the creation story, with the twin platypus. It tells how the water dog kidnapped her and kept her in a cave on the river bank, she escaped back to her people. The Circuit was built in the 1950's and opened in 1956. The circuit was closed in 1962 due to lack of finance for repair work to the track. In 1964 Len Lukey purchased the cirtuit and reopened in 1967, but once again was closed in 1978 as not suitable for modern racing. It was used only for Historic Rallies and the like until 1982. In 1985 The Circuit was purchsed by Placetac Pty Ltd. The Circuit was refurbished in 1988. Allan Thomas Bernaldo (b. 1900, Creswick. d. 1988, Melbourne) was a former student at the Ballarat School of Mines Technical Art School. In 1917 he was presented a medal 'for the most meritorious Art student'. He was known for his watercolours, and subjects such as horses and flowers. Bernaldo's popularity was at its height during the 1930s and 1940s. Brown hard covered book of 59 pages, with a black dustjacket that includes a painting of a vase of white flowers. Cameron Stewart Baird, VC, MG was a soldier in the Australian Army who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions in Afghanistan. Cameron enlisted on 4/1/2000 and was posted to the 4th Battalion (Commando) RAR now known as the 2nd Commando Regiment. He was deployed on 7 operations including Operation TANAGER - Timor Leste in 2001 Operation BASTILLE and FALCONER - Iraq in 2003. Cameron resigned from the ADF in 2004 re enlisting in 2006 and again posted to 2nd Commando Regiment. In 2007 he was promoted to Lance Corporal and deployed on Operation SLIPPER - Afghanistan. He was awarded the Medal for Gallantry. In 2008 he was promoted to Corporal and deployed again on Operation SLIPPER in 2009 2011 and 2013.
