Gives the impact of the fare rises, doubling the weekly travel cost. Has a map showing the tramway routes and section destination to apply from 1/7/1951. Issued commencing 1 January 2008, to replace the 80c child single journey ticket. Stapled with a heavy staple at the top of the ticket onto a heavy brown cardboard sheet. With worksheet is a "Notice to Traffic Staff", issued by the Operations Manager, 26/10/2007. Yields information about tramway accidents in Drummond St Ballarat, during the SEC era and in particular on in 1963 when a tram was in a collision with a cattle truck. Significance is reduced by the quality of the photocopy but gives the source details.Photocopy of a photograph and article that appeared in The Courier, Ballarat newspaper of 22/1/1963 tram No. 27 that had collided with a truck at corner of Drummond Nth and Mair St the previous Saturday. Set of three foolscap size sheets, for ARE/ARHS/AREA (Vintage Train) Tour to Ballarat, on Sunday 5 September 1971, the last day of the Mount Pleasant, Gardens Via St. West Lines. 1. - Welcome Aboard circular - printed both sides on pink paper - which involved the running of two trains, special bus and tram arrangements at Ballarat, for the visit to Sovereign Hill. Gives details of the tram timetables, for the afternoon, train departure times, lunch arrangements and notes on bus and tram running if peak loads encountered. 2nd copy ex Peter Winspur, added 11/1/2007. 2. Victorian Railways S Circular, or special train notice, S2188/71, three pages giving list of special trains, altered platform arrangements at Flinders St., train schedules, alterations to goods trains, light engine movements, loads, motive power and tickets. Thirty two pages on gloss white paper plus brown covers, centre stapled, titled ""Panoramic Views , The Garden City, of Ballarat & District" in Gold printing. On rear has name of printers "Berry and Anderson Co Subtitle on page 1, "The Garden City being a series of 40 magnificent Panoramic Views of Ballarat and District, with special descriptive article, "Ballarat Revisited". On page 1, comprises a list of photos and a photo of Sturt St. looking east with an electric tram hauling a trailer. Pages 2 and 3 comprise the article. Most small photos are recycled postcard photos, dating from around the time of horse trams, through to the 1920, featuring the Arch of Victory, A number of photos of buildings such as Orphan Asylum, or Orphanage, Eureka Stockade, Lake Wendouree, Gardens, Ballarat and District Hospital, The Gardens and Reservoirs or Lakes. Many of the street scenes in Sturt St, feature tram in the City area - see the 11 image files including some close detail scans or horse trams turning from Sturt St to Lydiard St while one horse tram is coming up the hill on the same side of Sturt St. Features both electric and some horse trams. Printed black and white postcard of an ESCo tram west bound at the intersection of Sturt and Lydiard St. Ballarat, c1906 - 7 - has a destination box. Has a number of pedestrians in the picture. Taken from the east side of the intersection, looking towards the Town Hall, with the National Mutual Insurance building and Snows in the photo. Also shows the overhead arrangements - two wire for Sturt St, single for Lydiard St, coming into the intersection. Titled "Sturt Street, Ballarat" along the top edge. On rear of postcard are the words "Post Card", has initials "WTP" in bottom left hand corner, a 1d Victorian stamp, cancelled 1/5/07, stamp "5". Divided back type. Address to Mrs T.D. Cayett? Each copy consists of a chapter, one page titled "Early History", five pages titled "Part 1 - Horse Trams - Ballarat 1887 - 1905, Sebastopol 1893 - 1912, Ballarat East Nil" Notes on the construction of the tramway, opening, personalities, Julien Battery tram, and half a page titled "Bits of Interest". The 3rd chapter, 3 pages, titled "Part 2 - Electric Trams - Ballarat 1905, Ballarat East, Sebastopol 1912". Notes the early power supply history in Ballarat, opening of the electric routes, (conversion of horse trams to electric), and the purchase of new trams ex Melbourne 1930. Chapter ends with 3 short paragraphs notes on the SEC taking over, Conductresses during the war and reconstruction. Author - unknown - possibly the SEC, Les Denmead and others - notes the scrubber car still in service in 1969? Ephemera - Ticket, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), "Weekly Ticket 1/6d", 1940's?
SECV - 1/6d Weekly Ticket - white card, with black and red printing. Headed with SEC details, punch marks for day of week on the sides, in and out directions and in the centre area of the ticket, overprinted in red, numbers 1 to 8. On rear has availability details, where it can be used, not available on Sunday and ticket number "EA341101" printed on the ticket in black ink. Has been used and possibly ex a tramcar given the condition. Note different style to that held to date (5/2005) for use in Ballarat and Bendigo. Photocopies of documents from the Public Records Office files, Ballarat of letters concerning the construction of the horse tramway vehicles in Ballarat. Provided by Colin Homes. .1 - dated 1/2/1889 to G. Perry Town Clerk Ballarat, from Constable Hanigan, reporting on a conversation with Mr. Moore, confirmed by Constable Hickey about the capacity of the tramcars and the need for licenses for them and the drivers and conductors. Moore replied that the roads belonged to him? and that he could tell Perry to go to hell. .2 - Letter or note, advising Mr. Perry, from Hanigan as cab inspector, that 15 of the cars would accommodate 40 people, 18 inside, 20 outside + 2 conductors and that two would accommodate 46 adults, 20 inside, 24 on top and 2 conductors. Set of three items concerning the restoration project for Horse Tram No. 1, by the Ballarat Vintage Tramway, 1986. 2804.1 - Letter on BTPS Letterhead, dated 8/4/1986, standard letter, seeking sponsorship or financial assistance for the project. Drafted for a Trust. Signed by the President, Frank Hanrahan. 2804.2 - 12 page report comb bound, with clear plastic cover, preprinted cover featuring horse tram No. 7 and light card rear back cover, dark blue in colour. Set of A4 photocopies of 15 years of annual reports of The Electric Supply Company of Victoria Limited from 1920 to 1934. Most of the reports comprise three sheets - Directors Report, left hand side of the Balance Sheet, Trading Account and Profit and Loss Account on the right hand side. Some reports have a statutory declaration by the Manager and Secretary that the reports submitted are a true copy of the report. Items .1 to .12 detail the number of lamps connected, passengers carried and trading account for the last three years. This practice stopped when ESCo sold the company to the SEC but continued to manage it for a further four years. The Directors report from 9/1900 note the forthcoming sale of the company to the British Insulated Wire Company Limited and the problems of finalising the sale. Set of A4 photocopies of 6 years of half yearly reports of The Ballaarat Tramway Company Limited (Horse Trams) from 3/1897 to 9/1902. All reports except the last one comprise a two sheet printed or typeset report giving notice of meeting, directors report, statement of assets and liabilities, share structure and profit and loss account. The last report 9/1902 is typed, and lists assets and credits only on the profit and loss account. Meetings were held at Craig's Hotel, Lydiard St. The Directors report from 9/1900 note the forthcoming sale of the company to the British Insulated Wire Company Limited and the problems of finalising the sale. Set of 12 views of Ballarat printed with six colour photos on one side and six black and white photos on the other side, printed onto a folded strip of paper glued within an embossed paper folder. On rear cover has publisher details "A Viewpoint Scenic Production"., titled "In Scenic Colour Ballarat, Vic". Front cover has title and small sketch showing a fountain, trees and church in the background. Would appear to be a generic cover for other cities as well. The rear cover has two sets of cut slits with black lines around the cuts to enable the folder to be closed. Pictures are: Black and White 1. Sturt St Ballarat. Set of 12 coloured views of Ballarat printed with six photos on either side of a folded strip of paper glued within an embossed paper folder. Published by Nucolorvue Productions Vic., titled "A Souvenir of Beautiful Ballarat". Front cover has a colour rural scene, title, address area and on base of cover "12 Specially Selected Views in Full Colour". Rear of Cover has a part of a colour scene as well and a slit for the envelope to be closed over and sealed. Yields information about the delivery run of tram 18 to Borough of Sebastopol and how it was delivered using a tractor.Newspaper Clipping from the Courier, Friday 1/10/1971, titled "No. 18 Reaches End of the Line", about the delivery of tram No. 18 to the Borough of Sebastopol, Victory Park the previous day. Features a photo of No. 18 being towed along the Albert St. track by a tractor and the hand over from the SEC to the Borough at the resting place of the tram. Features Cr. N. F. Donald and Mr. I. F. Pellas at the handover. Notes the significance of the tram to the Borough - decorated for the Borough's centenary in 1965. About 22 pages of notes or questions that a trainee tram driver would have to know to pass an examination, notes on takings on a tram on Friday 3 October?, 24 pages of notes on lathes and machining, and about 66 pages of notes on Ballarat tram timetables, drivers notes, run details and instructions including a calendar for the period March to December. Matches the calendar for 1909. Date on a page, noting a special notice issued on Friday May 14, 1909. Yields information about Ballarat and Sturt St c1907 following the information of trams.Printed colour postcard of Ballarat electric tram leaving the Grenville St. terminus, at the bottom end of Sturt St terminus with an early motor bus or taxi in front of the tram crossing to the south side of Sturt St. Has buildings on both sides of Sturt St. in photograph, with some other horse drawn vehicles and many pedestrians. Note, none of the buildings have names shown on them - have been printed out. Photo taken soon after opening, no roof mounted destination boxes. On rear are places for correspondences stamp, address and manufacturers' name in a fancy motif "WTP".
