In May 1917 William Gruner, a soldier, was with a group of people drinking at the Prince of Wales hotel in Richmond. After the group left the hotel, Gruner returned and stabbed the licensee, Robert Walker, with a military service knife. Walker was a former policeman. Victoria Police Museum 313 Spencer Street Docklands ...William Clark, Arthur Oliver and William Hoare were captured in February 1919 whilst attempting to rob the bank teller of the Middle Park branch of the ES&A bank who was on his way to deposit a large amount of cash in Albert Park. Detectives had received information on the intended robbery and were waiting to capture the men who had surrounded the teller after he got off the train.
