Ringwood Technical School was the first co-educational technical school in Victoria. In 1963, 229 Form 1 students were enrolled, being the biggest student intake so far in the school’s 5 year history, bringing the school population close to 700 in Forms 1 to 4. Extensions to the 3 year old building were under way to cope with the increasing student numbers. Experienced teachers came from all parts of the State to teach in this unique school, The school was known locally as Ringwood Tech School, Ringwood Tech, Ringy Tech, Ringers Tech, The Tech and RTS. It began in 1958 with Form 1 boys, then Form 1 girls in 1959 at a separate campus. Both groups were hosted at district schools until 1960, when the new school was completed at Heathmont. It was the first co-ed technical school in Victoria. The school underwent several name and role changes in later years, and finally closed in 2003.This is the parent record for the large archives collection of Ringwood Technical School (later Eastern Secondary College), consisting of class and group photos, trip and other photos, and various documents and magazines from the school's beginning in 1958 to its closure in 1993. Individual items fall in the VC Reference Number range 21001 - 22899 and where possible are grouped by year. This ledger contains the financial records of a business that appears to be based in Warrnambool with connections to Koroit, Heywood and Dartmoor. The dates of the records are from 1941 to 1947. Unfortunately the name of the business is unknown but there are several references to the names, R.J. Allwood and G. Newnham.This ledger is of minor interest but if the business owner is confirmed in the future it will have some research value.This is a ledger with a black hard cover of composite material and metal binding. There is a metal mechanism in the back cover for inserting the pages. Ronald G. Thorn was a cadet engineer with the SEC on the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. The SEC employed young engineers as cadets to gain experience in their profession. As a cadet he took notes on his work for future reference. The Public Transport Union was formed in 1993 from the various Australian Public Transport Unions, see reference. It was renamed as the Rail Transport and Bus Union in 1998 to reflect the impact of privatisation. See 4201 and 7089 for the earlier badge of the same layout. Demonstrates a badge issued to members of the RTBUBadge - Rail Transport and Bus Union. The badge is made on a brass backing with the words "Rail Transport and Bus Union" on the outer edge of the badge with a black enamel background. Ian McKendrick was secretary of the Mt Beauty Football Club on 8th Aug. 1974. He compiled important papers re the club's history and stored them in an envelope for future reference and preservation with the idea of each secretary passing the envelope on to the next secretary.Mt Beauty football club was formed at a meeting on 19th Sept. 1974 attended by Bogong Tawonga Football club when the club changed its name. The Mt Beauty football club has since amalgamated with the Dederang football club. List of footballers in 1975 is helpful for researching local families living in the Kiewa Valley. This poem references Mersa Matruh, a port town on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt where Tom Meagher of the 14th Battalion may have served. Mersa Matruh was the backdrop for a series of battles between the German and British forces from mid- to late-1942.This poem was written by Avis Quarrell, an active community member of the Warrnambool RSL. Avis Quarrell was a former driver during the Second World War and is well known as a photographer and author in the Warrnambool area. The poem is well provenanced, bearing a dedication from the author herself and has significant interpretive capacity to discuss the North African campaigns, experiences of war and the history of the 14th Battalion when paired with the sketch.Poem printed in black ink on marled biege coloured paper in serif font, centred on page and signed by hand. Frame comprises of black plastic and is suspended by a wire on the reverse, which is screwed in on both the left and right hand sides. Poem is sealed in frame by framing tape, brown in colour. A gold adhesive label in the lower left hand corner indicates the framer and an inscription printed on paper is adhered onto the back of the frame.Underneath poem on front: “Avis Quarrell. The depicted Ballarat School of Mines Assaying Furnace probably dates back to the mid 1890s. The photo first appears in the Ballarat School of Mines Calendar for 1900, but references to these facilities were mentioned in 1887. These facilities were updated and expanded on several occasions. During salvage and disposal operations it was damaged losing 50% of the body. Robin Boyd's Marriott House (1954) in Flinders Victoria on the Mornington Peninsular was commissioned by the Ron Marriott, who owned Hecla Electrics.
