This item is part of the Di Reidie collection. Diane Reidie was a much loved volunteer and President of Brighton Historical Society from 1999 until 2016. Originally from New Zealand, Di and her family lived in Male Street, Brighton for many years. A vibrant and energetic person with a zest for life and a gift for bringing people together, Di was a friend to many in the Bayside community and active in local community organisations. Her tireless work as President of BHS saw her named Bayside Citizen of the Year in 2008. As a seller and collector of vintage clothing, she was passionate about fashion history; one of her many enduring contributions to BHS was her extensive work in preserving, developing and promoting the Society's costume collection. In 2018-19, Di donated more than one hundred items from her personal vintage clothing collection to the Society. The collection, which includes clothing, hats, handbags and shoes from local and international designers, is representative of Di's wide-ranging interests, colourful personality, creativity, humour and love of fashion and travel. Di purchased this 1980s cocktail dress second hand around 2000 to wear as part of a Dame Edna Everage costume to a hen's party. A blue mid calf length polyester dress with prominent gathered and padded shoulders, horizontally ruched bodice, high scoop neckline, full length sleeves and dropped waist. The Album was compiled by Nancy McHaffie late 1990's, with the assistance of Edith Jeffery's, with her book "Garden of Memories" and extensive knowledge of Phillip Island. The Cemetery lies back from the road and is surrounded by Manna Gums, rare Peppermint Gums, Blackwoods and other native trees. In all 25 acres of land were set aside as Crown Land in the land settlement of 1868. There are 6.2 acres of wetlands near the cemetery entrance.466-40: George Walton settled at Rhyll after the Land Settlement Act was granted 8 acres in the township of Rhyll. He was the father of a large family, many descendants still live on Phillip Island. He had the honour of being the first brickmaker on the Island. He died in 1912 in his 81st year. Also Harriet Walton, Richard Walton & George James. 466-41: The Gall Family. Robert and Sarah Gall came to Phillip Island about 1869 and selected Block 10, some 20 acres. They built their home and sunk a well which still exists in Settlement Road, Cowes. In the letter the writer mentions that he has a pipe line which has fouled up and he was inquiring if a scalebuoy would improve the problem. The second letter ( a carbon copy), dated 10/2/54, is to Mr Roy Michaelis from (name obscured). He mentions that he has thought about it but he can't see any way to help at the moment. He also says that the scalebuoy needs a steady flow of water which the hydraulic ram does not give. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Block of 200 tickets - light red ink on off white paper, original denomination 5c, lettered A 125000 to A 125199, headed Ballarat Tourist Tramway and over stamped "80c" in black ink. The 200 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple. The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Tickets originally printed for general use on the trams 1974. Later over stamped to act as 80c tickets to save printing new tickets. Tickets used as Adults and Children (return). Along the bottom edge is the date, "June 1963" Pages are numbered pages 1 to 10, with front cover title repeated on cover sheet inside. Document amends the fare schedules for Ballarat and Bendigo. Dated by the SEC 13/6/1963 to come into effect 1/8/1963.. Details names of SEC Commissioners on rear page. Four copies held. No printer details. Demonstrates aspects of the Ballarat Tramways in providing information to the travelling public about their tram services, times and how organised in relation to the time of the day. An ESCo era timetable. Two local businesses have advertised as well.Folded printed card, off white, titled "Ballarat Tramways Rubicon Street and Sebastopol Time Table." Gives details of trams from the City for Rubicon St and Sebastopol for the various days and inbound trams from Rubicon, indicating that trams ex Sebastopol ran 10 minutes earlier.
