S Coleridge-Taylor's adaptation of Longfellow's poem, 'Hiawatha,' is a three-part Cantata, comprising the above two sections and 'Hiawatha's Depature.' Frequently the work is given abridged. The composer was an Englishman of African decent, and this, perhaps, led him to take such a keen interest in American Indian legends and negro folk songs. The first page is a memorandum to Mr J H Seymour from the International patent & Trade Marks Office informing Mr Seymour that the Provisional Specification of his invention has been accepted in Victoria, dated 17 Oct 1892. Bowl previously owned by donor's mother and father Mr and Mrs Cassidy of Koondrook. Mr and Mrs Cassidy (aged 25 and 22 respectively) were honeymooning in Bendigo on 18th March 1920 and obtained the bowl from the Bendigo Glassworks. This was passed on to their daughter Edna Peacock. Associated with the bowl is an article written by Jim Evans for the Bendigo Advertiser December 13th 2012 in his 'History Lives' column. The article illustrates the connection between Jannaya McKenzie (work experience student) and the bowl that was obtained by her ancestors. Green glass Ball made by Bendigo Glassworks 1920. The Safety Cage was an invention to stop the cage falling down the shaft if the rope gave way. Fedder Duster was a Chinese Market Gardener who was forced off his garden lease. His name was Ah Louey.
