Brick Anglican Vicarage in Main Street purchased 1923 surrounded by trees and with picket fence and gate. In 1923 the house on the west side of the Church was purchased to be the Vicarage, the former Vicarage in Stawell West being sold. In this same year electricity was connected to the Church, the Hall and the Vicarage. The organ which had been hand pumped till then was fitted with and electric blower. This photo is a copy off a loaned postcard. The dwelling was purchased by the Anglican Church 1923, the former vicarage in Seaby Street being sold. The Spire in the background is St. Matthews Presbyterian Church. This is the oldest Mitcham Methodist Church and was initially situated on the corner of Richards Street and Whitehorse Road. It was then moved to a sight in Mitcham Road, Mitcham just North of Whitehorse Road. In the late 1960's it was moved to the Presbyterian site on the corner of East Doncaster and Whitehorse Roads, Mitcham. Kindergarten room was extended east to form Wesley Hall. 1953 Church connected to Wesley Hall. 1957 house next to Church purchased. 1958 Community Hall opened. These are the original wrought iron gates which served as the entrance to St. Andrews Uniting Church, formerly St.Andrews Presbyterian Church. They were erected there in 1922 and were made at H.V.McKay's Sunshine Harvester foundry, at Sunshine. H.V McKay was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Sunbury. Originally the gates opened onto Stawell Street, which ran at an angle between O'Shanassy and Barkly Streets. Apart from a small area leading to the Memorial Hall the rest of Stawell Street has been incorporated in the Village Green in Sunbury.The gates were restored and erected on their original site in 2000. This snuff horn belonged to the Rev. Thomas Hastie, pioneering Presbyterian minister at Buninyong from 1847 to 1898. It was presented to the Society by his great grand-daughter in 2010.This item is historically significant for its connection with an important figure in the history of Buninyong, who was also a notable figure in the Free Presbyterian Church in Victoria in the 19th Century.A brown snuff horn, made of ivory, with a silver band and inlaid silver decoration on the lid. Brown electrician, consequently reflecting much alteration and change when compared to earlier photos.The streetscape is of historic significance, recording the detail of the streetscape in 1993. Thomas Hastie was the first Presbyterian minister of Buninyong and started the first school in Buninyong in 1848.
