This album has historic and social significance in that it appears to be a collection of family photographs which link areas of Scotland with the coming of early settlers to Australia and in some photos obviously to Warrnambool. R J Russell operated a timber and hardware store in Koroit Street Warrnambool around the 1950’s. He succeeded from Newcombe Pty Ltd which had operated a timber and hardware store on the site (the present Target store) from the 1870’s. The business continued to trade under the Newcombe name after the death of Newcombe around 1900.A common well used item with links to a local business.Wooden yard ruler with markings in one eigthth inch measurements and numbered in inches.
