This book was owned by the late Dr Elizabeth Kerr and was donated to the Museum by the executor of her estate, Margaret Cameron. It was produced by the Australian Women's Weekly and contains knitting patterns. Located in the garden at Kooyong, at the intersection of the path to Talbot Crescent and the path leading to the Club house, this plaque marks the contribution of Louise Zalay. Louise worked in the library area and was a familiar figure at Kooyong until her unexpected death in 2015. The elephants pictured here were from Perry Brothers Circus Zoo, and came over on the ferry, Narrabeen, somewhere between 1928 and 1932. Before the Phillip Island San Remo bridge was built, there was only one way to get the circus to town, and that was on the ferry. Part of a collection of 'Rose & Valentine' series of Post Cards. Document on foolscap paper some notes on Dudley House Bendigo Victoria, Australia courtesy of Mr Geoffrey, C. Ingleton father was the former Town Clerk of Bendigo, appointed 1 January 1924. The layout of the building at ground floor level involved the removal of walls along the left side from the entrance creating one large room. Alterations required replacement of doors, 1920's style , with decorative glass panels and door knobs of the period. This report contains excellent descriptions of furniture installed at the house, including a grandfather clock, framed etchings, easy chairs with loose floral covers, and a number of 'occasional chairs' of Rose-wood or Cedar in Edwardian design. The furniture was purchased from Morley Johnson of Bendigo and Sydney. There were also china cabinets, a gramophone in a large upright rose-wood cabriole-shaped cabinet. The name Dudley house may have been earned by reputation, or had a connection to a former tenant - perhaps a State Official or a caretaker.bendigo, history, dudley house

The Budj Bim National Heritage Landscape - Tyrendarra Area on the Australian National Heritage List lies on the Tyrendarra lava flow between the Fitzroy River and Darlot Creek close to the township. The Budj Bim Cultural Landscape was ascribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List on 06 July 2019 (AEST). These are samples of "cut nails", cut from sheets of steel and then a head flattened. The star/rose head, identifies them as Ewbank nails. These were first patented in 1869 and were cut with the grain of the steel running vertically down the nail. This made them particularly strong and they were probably the most common type used in Australia because the were particularly good for Australian hardwoods9 handmade nails with greenish colored square shape top raised in the centre. Introduced in 1974, the Braille Book of the Year was created to both acknowledge excellence in writing as well as raise the profile of Braille books. Rose Anne Murphy nee Herbel married Luke Murphy in 1902 and became Mayoress when Councillor Luke Murphy was elected 35th Mayor of Bendigo in 1905. The Mayor and Mayoress gave the customary ball at which over 400 guest attended and was regarded as one of the most successful in the municipals history. (p219 Mayors of Bendigo). Brighton local Margaret Cooke (nee Parish) had this dress made for the Miss Summer Festival competition fundraiser. The idea for the dress came from a photograph in the Womens' Weekly. A professional dressmaker cut and made the dress. It has an 18" waist. There is a black and white photocopy on file of the dress being worn at the time.Floral cotton dress with matching belt and shoes.
