A charabanc or "char-à-banc" is a type of horse-drawn vehicle or early motor coach, usually open-topped, common in Britain during the early part of the 20th century. It has "benched seats arranged in rows, looking forward, commonly used for large parties, whether as public conveyances or for excursions." It was especially popular for sight-seeing or "works outings" to the country or the seaside, organised by businesses once a year. Black and white print of MMTB Bus No. 79. This was the second tourist bus, imported by MMTB Chairman Bell from Canada in 1939. It was built by the Canadian Car Co. Because of WW2, it was put into normal passenger service in July 1940 and had a mundane existence from that time onwards. It was sold to Melbourne Brighton Bus Lines however they never used it. Bus has the destination of Nicholson St. Appears is poor condition. Has other Mark III buses in the background. All have PTC Copyright Stamp on rear. It was renamed as the Rail Transport and Bus Union in 1998 to reflect the impact of privatisation. See 4201 and 7089 for the earlier badge of the same layout. The two Scholar's Concession tickets for first and second terms of 1976 allowed the holder to travel from Wattle Park to Latrobe university via a nominated route with the conditions of travel on the rear. Cost was $34 for each ticket. Ticket Nos. 06423 and 07189. Both issued at Camberwell Depot. The Employees Pass was issued to those who did not have a pass issued to them personally, such as travel to and from a training facility. The person to who this was issued to was a MMTB employee.
