Condition of the road surface very rough - can't see the rails. Photo taken in early days, as no modesty boards on upper deck - say 1887. Possibly a trial trip. Pamphlet - printed on off white paper titled "Fare Increases and You", advising of the Fare increase on August 29 (1971 - see Reg Item 2024.2 and image i2), and whether it was justified. Notes increases in fares compared to fares between 1949 and 1971, closure of the Ballarat and Bendigo, asking people to approach their Members of Parliament. Authorised by S. E. Edwards, Secretary, Victorian Tramways Union. Notes Henry Bolte as Premier. Also notes the reduction in passenger numbers from 1949 to 1971. Miss Olive Codling was a Foundation Member and a Life Member of the Wodonga Historical Society. Many of her prize-winning photos are held in the Society Collection. She also held a range of roles and committee positions in a wide range of Wodonga community organisations. These included the Horticultural Society, the Wodonga Arts Council, the Wodonga Camera Club and the Wodonga Lapidary Club. This photo collection is significant as it documents how the businesses and buildings in Wodonga have evolved and contributed to community throughout the 20th century.J. Mann and Sons was first established as a farm produce store in 1921. The range of products was extended in the 1930s and included groceries and hardware, as well as the first petrol bowser in Wodonga outside the store. After WWII, the premises were extended and the range of products continued to increase. In the 1960s the Mann Family opened a new supermarket in Wodonga, in addition to the hardware business, providing steel, plumbing and industrial supplies, and employed over 100 people. This site has since been redeveloped and is now the Mann Centre. Medal - GERMAN HERITAGE SOCIETY COLLECTION: KAHLAND SILVER MEDAL
Gold framed item. Written inside ' Silver Medal presented to wine maker Joachim Kahland, Sandhurst. From the Estate of Freida Kahland, late of King Street, Bendigo, these medallions were presented to the Society by the executor Mr. A. Lienhop on 22 May 1989. The Kahland cellars situated in King Street, Bendigo, were noted among the cleanest, driest and well kept cellars in the district and his wines were equally famous winning many local, national and overseas awards. A letter from the Education Department War Relief Fund addressed to Elma Wells. No date on the letter. The letter signed by the director of the fund details the award to Elma of a certificate of Effective Membership of the young Workers' Patriotic Guild. The letter details how the funds raised go to help those who have suffered during the great war. Then goes on to say that they have decided that those who possess the young workers' patriotic guild certificates may have the Education Department seal embossed upon the certificate if they succeed in rising 5 pounds and an additional seal if they succeed in raising 10 pounds.document -

The map illustrates the main lines of reef as they appeared with mines and details of their calls and dividends as well as gold produced. Drawn by mining surveyor and geologist William Henry Cundy, who trained and worked for the Tasmanian Mines Department until 1893, when he moved and settled in Bendigo. Boggy Creek Bridge was built in 1916 as part of the Bairnsdale to Orbost extension to the main Gippsland Railway, and is situated in the middle of the township of Nowa Nowa, crossing a steep-sided and well-timbered creek-valley. This section of the line closed in 1987. This item is a pictorial record of the Boggy Creek railway bridge on the East Gippsland line. This bridge plays a major part in the identity and history of the town of Nowa Nowa, since Boggy Creekâs steep sided valley divides the township into two components.A black / white photograph of a bridge across a river in the bush.
