Junior Legatee performers in the Annual Demonstration, which was a major event for Legacy each year, usually held at the Melbourne Town Hall. This photo provides just one example of the beautiful costumes worn by Junior Legacy girls for Legacy's Annual Demonstrations at the Melbourne Town Hall. These costumes were made by members of the Junior Legacy Mothers' Club and the Melbourne Legacy Wives' Association. This album contains photographs from the Warrnambool Dramatic Society’s 1955 production of ‘See How They Run’. Amateur theatre groups have been operating in Warrnambool since the 1850s under a variety of names. The Warrnambool Dramatic Society was operating in the late 1940s and has continued to operate over the ensuing years with the name of the group today being the Warrnambool Theatre Company. This album gives us historical and pictorial information on the performers in ‘See How They Run’. No further information has been found on the owner of the album, Perc Moore.This album contains photographs that are important as a record of a Warrnambool Dramatic Society production in 1955. This is an album of 12 pages. It is bound with two metal studs. It has a buff-coloured cover in a mottled pattern with silver printing on the front cover. It contains ten black and white photographs, two of them loose. It also has inserted in the first two pages two programmes. The album is in a cream-coloured cardboard box. The death of a long-standing Chaplain, Wesleyan, Ebenezer James in 1901 eventually led to a proposed merger in 1905 which resulted in the amalgamation of the Victorian Mission with the Anglican based Mission to Seafarers under the leadership of Rev'd Gurney Goldsmith who arrived in 1905. The new Mission was launched in 1906 with a long planned and much needed new central building opened in 1907 on the Australian Wharf. Mr Darvall, in his time produced a handwritten 40 page epitomised history, drawn from annual reports and was exceptionally meticulous in his efforts to cross reference related correspondence, press clippings, report material and documents. This is a program for a local theatrical performance. It was produced and directed by Frances Sinclair and contains a number of dance and musical items. There are a number of local Warrnambool names among the performers such as K T Swinton, Rex Fotheringham, Mavis MacDonald, Miss Rooney, W Goodall, John Reid, George and June Philpot. The dancers ranged from tiny tots, Petite ballerinas, Corp de ballet to the belles De Paris. Some of the other items on the program are the Scottish Samba, Tut and Khamen and Fiesta in Granada by Ferdinande Del Campo Caravani111 and Monty Bellow the Atomic Bull & Co which would suggest that it around the time of the Atomic testing in the Montebello Islands in the 1950’s. A program which shows the artistic side to the city and associated humour and talent. It has a large number of names of those involved in the production and performance and would be typical of concerts performed around the country at that time. As one of Geelong's finest forwards, Lloyd Hagger was relatively tall and possessed the ability to take high-flying, spectacular finger-tip marks at chest height as he tumbled over packs. His accurate punt and drop kicks resulted in many goals for the team. He became well known for scoring many acute angle goals. A mobile performer who could kick effectively with either foot, he played with equal effectiveness at centre half-forward and full forward. His durability was remarkable. The "Q" Theatre Guild was formed out of the Kew Light Opera Company in 1957. It marked the transition of the company that had initially been directed by Lance Nicholls to one directed by Beatrice Oakley. It continued to perform in the Kew Recreation Hall, but, with its demolition in 1960, and the opening of the new Kew City Hall in Cotham Road, moved its productions to that venue. It is significant as a remarkably complete document of theatre performances in Kew, Victoria during the 1950s and 1960s. The scrapbook, and the items individually catalogued within it, have artistic and aesthetic significance within the history of performing arts in Victoria in the middle of the 20th Century. They have social significance in that they reveal socio-cultural values and preoccupations during the period. The records also act as a history of arts activities in the Kew Recreation Hall and later in the Kew City Hall as entertainment and community arts and music precincts.Black and white photograph of performers in Vincent Wallace's opera Maritana. Marion Tilley, the creator of the scrapbook in which the photo is pasted is given credit for designing and making the costumes. Set design was by R. Jewell. An annotation underneath the photo identifies two of the leads: Carla Jeffries and Alan Wilson. The photograph was taken on the night of 21 or 27 June when Jeffries performed the title role, a role she shared with Val Breen. A regular event for the widows was a Christmas concert at the Melbourne Town Hall. The performers were the RAAF Central Band. Held in December each year. The photos from 1995 show President Millie presenting flowers to Inez Bruce, Gwen Gunn and Irene Noll. Usually the concert was the time the Widows Clubs presented Legacy with funds raised through their fundraising each year - in this case $21,000 - and the president acknowledges with flowers. The article mentions that over 1,800 widows came together for the concert despite the rain and bad weather. The RAAF Central Band was conducted by Sq. Ldr.
