Erected in the township of Miners Rest in 1920 in remembrance of fallen soldiers, this granite plinth cenotaph stands at the West end of an Avenue of Honour with 25 trees. The memorial is of Harcourt colonial granite, with bronze face plates, and contains the names of twenty-four soldiers of the district who sacrificed their lives at war. The monument was designed by the well-known sculptor, Mr F. W. Commons, and the work executed by returned soldiers employed at his studio on Creswick Road, Ballarat.The memorial is of historic and social significance to the people of BallaratGranite stone memorial including plaques on a bluestone base. 4 smaller granite posts and flag pole. This is a photograph of the site and the remains of the Lochton flour mill which was situated on a horse shoe bend along Deep Creek at Bulla. Captain William Morrison Hunter took up land along Deep Creek and built his home in 1850.He opened the flour mill in 1856, which was worked by a number of millers until it ceased operations in 1961.Flour milling was one of the early industries carried out in the Sunbury and Bulla district. The building is the former Bulla Post Office and general store which was damaged by fire in 1989 and never rebuilt. A private house now occupies the site. The post office was relocated to a service station about 1km away. For many years the former Bulla Post Office and store was the focal point in the small township.A coloured photograph of a bluestone building by a roadside which has been gutted by fire. This work forms part of the collection assembled by the historian Dorothy Rogers, that was donated to the Kew Historical Society by her son John Rogers in 2015. The manuscripts, photographs, maps, and documents were sourced by her from both family and local collections or produced as references for her print publications. Many were directly used by Rogers in writing ‘Lovely Old Homes of Kew’ (1961) and 'A History of Kew' (1973), or the numerous articles on local history that she produced for suburban newspapers. Most of the photographs in the collection include detailed annotations in her hand.The Rogers Collection provides a comprehensive insight into the working habits of a historian in the 1960s and 1970s. The five people in the photograph are all members of the McKenzie - Dunn families, who are longtime residents of the Bulla - Sunbury district and over the years have been active in the community. They were guests ate the official opening of the Alister Clark Memorial Garden in Bulla which took place on 12th December 1999. John McMahon is a long time Sunbury resident and served as a Shire of Bulla councillor. Edward Fannings family were early European settlers in Bulla. Colour transparency (slide) created in June 1976 during a tour by the Junior National Trust, which was led by members of Kew Historical Society. St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church Built 1859-1867 Foundation stone laid in July 1857, money being raised be subscription and a government grant. Charles Hansom was the Architect, Nathaniel Billing Engineer. Chancel and sacristy were added in 1867, stained glass windows added in 1868. " ... the foundation-stone of the new church at Koroit was laid by Bishop Goold on New Year's Day, 1867. It was said of Fr. Parle that his one. fault was "extravagant ideas of church building," and to his vision must be attributed what was called at the time "the most magnificent and costly ecclesiastical building in the Western District." Altogether about £6000 was spent on the Koroit church, a large sum in those days. It entailed much delay while the money was being collected, and Fr.
