Images in the album are related to the laying of the foundation stone of St Vincent's new wing in 1928 as well as the royal visit of the Duke and Duchess of York in 1927. A loose newspaper clipping contained in the album titled "Fitzroy's Welcome" provides information on the royal visit which extended into Fitzroy, Collingwood and Richmond. Stereographs consist of two nearly identical photographs paired to produce the illusion of a single three-dimensional image, usually when viewed through a stereoscope. These series of cards are made by one of the Pioneers families of the district who travelled went on a cruise aboard the 'Katoomba' to Papua New Guinea in 1939. The cruise was arranged by the Society of Australasia Methodist Missionary Cruise to Papua New Guinea in April 1939. This collection of Stereograph card depicts scenes from the Coronation of King George V. Produced by 'The Rose Stereographs. George Rose was born in Clunes, Victoria in 1861 and later worked in his father’s boot-making business in Prahran while studying photography. In 1880 he founded the Rose Stereograph Company and became famous for producing stereographs, or stereoviews, which gave the illusion of being in 3D when seen through a hand-held viewer. Some of the pioneers of Moorabbin were staunch supporters of the Monarchy of England. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. It was the first independent school of nursing in Victoria and continued until it closed in 1989.Three black and white photographs of a nurse in uniform and casual clothes.
