Leisure object - Stereograph Cards, Methodist Mission to Papua New Guinea, 1939

Historical information

Stereographs consist of two nearly identical photographs paired to produce the illusion of a single three-dimensional image, usually when viewed through a stereoscope.
These series of cards are made by one of the Pioneers families of the district who travelled went on a cruise aboard the 'Katoomba' to Papua New Guinea in 1939. The cruise was arranged by the Society of Australasia Methodist Missionary Cruise to Papua New Guinea in April 1939. The Cruise left Brisbane with 370 methodists from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Significance

Many of the early pioneers in the City of Moorabbin were Methodists.
