Handwritten notes signed by Frank Doolan in response to an unnamed article on the building of the Shrine of Remembrance. A first page of notes is missing, indicated by the notes being numbered 5-14. Note No. 10 refers to the founding of Melbourne Legacy being erroneously attributed to Sir John Gellibrand. The pages are undated but refute in detail many of claims made by the 'architect author'. Doolan clearly feels passionate about the Shrine and Legacy's links to it and has very detailed knowledge about the building as he was a surveyor who worked on the building. Final report dated April 1972 submitted by the Residences Review Sub-Committee (J.E. Chancellor. Chair, H.C.G. Rogers, G.K. Rosman) - see drafts at Cat.Nos. 01672 and 01673. The report of the Forcasting Committee, Cat. No. 01670, is included as Appendix I, and comparative costs statements 1963-1971 are included as Appendices II-V. The report gives details of the situation at that date and projected changes to the functions of the residences, occupancy rates, costs and likely trends in accommodation needs. It explores at length auxiliary and alternate accommodation such as the Salvation Army, YMCA, YWCA and church hostels, before recommending that when the number of residents over the age of 14 falls below 34 in two consecutive years Blamey House be disposed of or developed for other needs, Stanhope is converted to co-ed accommodation for over 14s, and Harelands is used as co-ed accommodation for the under 14s. A succinct account of the work of Melbourne Legacy to mark their first 25 years of service. Compare with 00936 which dealt with the first 21 years. By 1948 11,255 families and 27,747 children had been cared for at a total cost of ninety seven thousand, nine hundred and fifty five pounds. The major expenditure was on Residences such as Holmbush which accounted for 30% of the money. Records an extended Board Meeting which took place from 7.30-11.30 p.m on Thursday 16 July 1928 at the office of the Hon Sec in Collins Street , adjourning until 1.00-8.15 pm on Monday 20 August 1928 at the Alcazar Cafe, and then from 1.00-2.15 pm on Wednesday 22 August 1928, also at the Alcazar Cafe. No mention is made of any meals, but it can be assumed that such a long meeting included both food and drink. 56 items were discussed including membership, Junior Legatee activities and supervision, non-attendance by rostered Legatees and conference matters. Mention was made of the stewardship of the Club origin and history; unfortunately despite this promising start much has been lost over the years since. Three Legacy widows from Hampton area, their names are unknown. They were photographed when they visited Legacy House and appeared in the July 1992 Widows' Newsletter. The Department of Transport produced the Melbourne " Next Generation" G class tram badge to thank the team members involved in its design and production. As many of the team members came from Germany, the German translation was included on both sides of the card. Note from one of the production team was: "Staff from the Department of Transport and Planning – Next Generation Trams project team led a self-funded initiative to produce a commemorative badge of the Melbourne " Next Generation" G class tram. These were issued as gifts to persons involved in its design and production to mark the start of series manufacturing. The card it is mounted to is typeset in the proprietary “Network Sans” font, in both Australian English and Austrian German; including a special translated version of the Next Generation Trams Project logo.
