Since it was built in the 1860s the two storey brick building has had a number of commercial uses including butter and ice making, a general store, an equestrian store, an art gallery, a community Christian centre and a health studio. This shirt is part of a General Purpose Uniform issued by the Australian Airforce to Bernard Farley during service. This uniform type was developed in 2014 and replaced camouflage as the uniform worn during general base duties and in non-warlike environments. Although a camouflage pattern, this design is not intended for use as camouflage. This item has social significance, as an item of uniform worn by Warrnambool RSL community member and Secretary (2019), Bernard Farley during service with the Australian Airforce. The item is a representative example of current Airforce General Purpose Uniform and is in excellent condition. As a set, the uniform has aesthetic significance in it’s design, incorporating GPU uniform design from the Army alongside the colours and motifs of the Australian Airforce. General Purpose Uniform (GPU) shirt in Airforce colours of blue and grey in camouflage pattern. Long sleeve with 6 buttons up the front, two chest pockets with zippered verticle openings along the button seam; two button down pockets on both the left and right shoulder with velcro patches sewn to outside flap for attachment of patches. Above the chest pockets are two patches with embroidered inscriptions in white thread on navy backing. Shirt cuffs have adjustable velcro fasteners.Inscription on interior label is worn and illegible, halfway down the tag reads “PM KEYS NO.” Throughout (on shoulder seams, above left pocket and on back of collar) is the Australian Airforce badge/motif which features a circle with the words ‘Royal Australian Air Force', the Imperial Crown, and a Wedge-Tailed Eagle in flight though this detail is inferred not physically visible. The Yarra River was a major subject for the producers of postcards in Melbourne. This dual image postcard shows images of the Yarra in two locations. The cloth cover is brown with no visible markings on the front cover or spine. The pages are bound together with string and the material on the spine is almost worn away. Some of the pages are torn and very dirty and all are dog-eared. There is a grey and white illustration on the first page. This photograph shows one of the many weddings held at the Mission to Seafarers over the years and provides an overview of wedding fashion of the late 1920s. The bridesmaids were Ella Kendall and Molly Walker. In this image a horse and cart can be seen in the background on Flinders St and a Telegraph pole. Dora would continue association with the Mission and as president of the Flying angels in the 1960s-70s she would be awarded the MBE for services to Community presented by the State Governor of Victoria. This photograph shows one of the many weddings performed at the Mission to Seafarers over the years. Cross referencing with the marriage registers, also held in the collection, reveals that this photograph is Amy Dora Walker (known as Dora) of East Malvern marrying Harold Priestley Simpson of Surrey Hills / Mornington on 14 February 1928. Dora's son David Simpson, a former architect still volunteers for the Mission in 2018. The Melbourne Beefsteak Club, Australia’s oldest food society, was founded in May 1886. Members were from business, professional and academic circles. The Club had some arcane rituals, with Masters and Writers of the Records. This letter from The Recorder is addressed to Brother Boyd and includes a list of 26 members and lists of past Writers of the Records and Masters from 1964-1966, and list of Writers of the Records and Masters for the next two years 1967-1968. Henry Christian (c.1809-91) was one of the first settlers in Kew. He arrived in Victoria with his wife Agnes and son Orlando in 1855 on the Gypsy Queen. He established a rope-making business in Bulleen Road by 1858 but was declared insolvent two years later. In his final years, he was celebrated as one of the oldest living settlers of the district. His son, Orlando Henry Beater Christian (c.1853-1930) became a member of the Hawthorn Band and a foundation member of the Willsmere Swimming Club. Warrnambool Cordials was one of a number of cordial and aerated Waters Manufacturers who operated in Warrnambool from about 1859 until the 1980’s. Warrnambool Cordials was commenced in the early 1920’s by two brothers, Joseph and James Lescai. James operated a fruit shop in Fairy Street and Joseph as an industrial chemist made his own cordials which became very popular. Soon a company was formed with four local businessmen, J S Tait, Chas McMeekin, G Cinquegrana and John Gleeson who took over the company around the 1930’s. Warrnambool Cordials was then purchased by the Flett brothers around 1942. It was then sold in the 1960’s to Thomas McKenzie who traded as McKenzie Cordials. Warrnambool Cordials were one of a number of cordial manufacturers who operated in Warrnambool from the late 19th century until late 20th century. Two clear glass cylindrical bottles with 12 lines and indentations within formation of glass. It is topped with plastic spout which has two metal rims at bottom . These two works of art are by Dr Don Edgar, a sociologist, educator and author. He taught sociology at Stanford University, the University of Chicago, Monash University and La Trobe University and was the founding Director of the Australian Institute of Family Studies. In the 1950s Dr Edgar was a student at Warrnambool High School and these works of art were produced at that time. For a school project he researched the early history of the Warrnambool Art Gallery and some of its collection, dating from the 19th century. In 2019 he published a book, ‘Art For the Country’, the story of Victoria’s regional art galleries and the book includes information on the founding and the later history of the Warrnambool Art Gallery.These works of art are of interest as they were painted by Dr Don Edgar, a noted academic and author today and a former resident of Warrnambool. Two Legacy widows, from Essendon, Tess Bendon and Lorna Tozer. Keesing Photographers took a series of photos on the same day of various ladies and some were committee members at different clubs. Presumably there had a been a meeting at Legacy House of members from the many clubs (including Hampton, Highett, Caufield). The photo was used in an issue of The Answer in May 1992. Shin length long sleeved heavy woollen coat in khaki-green with double breasted fastening via three bakelite brown buttons. Two angled hip height pockets on the left and right hips with exterior flap, lined with cotton. Two red curved shoulder flashes on each shoulder embroidered with the words “ROYAL AUSTRALIAN/REGIMENT” in a cream thread with a cream border. Collar has two small buttons either side on the exterior and a hook and eye which fastens under the chin. Fabric epaulette on either shoulder with brown button to secure. Lower back of coat is secured by two buttons and a belt which attaches to left and right seam line and fastens via three buttons. Interior shoulder area is lined with short cotton lining which sits under the arms; sleeves lined in cotton. Pockets are cotton on interior with inscriptions; two labels on interior lower right. Berg dated 4th October 1974 to A.Quayle, Esq., Chairman of the Housing Steering Committee in which Legatee Berg confirms the completion of the Stage Two design for Blamey House.
