Document - LONG GULLY HISTORY GROUP COLLECTION: THE IMPERSONATOR OF PEG-LEG GULLY
Copy of a newspaper article titled The Impersonator of Peg-leg Gully, The Woman of Many Wives by J P Quaine. Article mentions Edward De Lacey Evans who successfully impersonated a male and was married at least three times. After a head injury Evans was admitted to the Bendigo Hospital as a lunatic and remained for some weeks without arousing any suspicions. The secret was discovered when transferred to a Melbourne Institution. Document - ST. MUNGO MINE - FATALITY AT THE ST. MUNGO MINE
Handwritten copy of a report from the Bendigo Advertiser Wed. August 30th, 1899 of a fatality at the St. Mungo Mine where a miner, Richard Nettle was injured when a large slab of mullock fell on him. He died later in the hospital. On the second page is a handwritten copy from the Bendigo Advertiser Thurs. Aug. 31st 1899 of the Inquest into the St. Mungo fatality.
