This image was copied in 2020 from a facebook post by Marcia Penny, a descendant of Linton's Craine family. Information with the image on facebook said the original photograph had been in a McIntyre family album (the McIntyre family was connected to the Craine family by marriage).Digital copy of an original photograph and its mounting card, which shows a coach drawn by two horses. The sign on the side of the coach reads "Cobb & Co / PLANET / Royal Mail". A man is standing near the horses' heads, and two (three?) other men are seated on the outside of the coach. In the background is the Royal Standard Hotel, a two-storey weatherboard building which stood on the corner of Sussex and Clyde Streets in Linton (demolished 1926). Photograph is dated between 1901 and 1914 (James Nelson Undertaker in premises next to library - he took over business there in 1901 and died in 1914, after which business became 'Nelson Bros. Undertakers').This is the earliest detailed photograph of the Linton library building that is in the LDHS collection, although the building can be glimpsed in other photographs of Sussex Street.Postcard - Sepia photograph of Linton Public Library building in Sussex Street, Linton. Photograph of teachers and pupils of Linton State School, taken in 1914. Teachers are identified in an inscription on the back of the photograph. Photograph is dated by the inscription, which identifies the head teacher as "Mr Dugard". Mr A. Duguard was head teacher for only one term in 1914. Note: Teacher Annie Sandow is also named in the inscription on the back of the photo as "Mrs Cull", as she married George Cull in 1915. Other teachers identified in the inscription are George Sanderson and Mrs Johnston (Helen Johnston née Toshack - Teacher ID 7955, Year of registration 1877). The photograph is dated to between 1927 and 1932, as the Nelson house has been renovated (this happened in 1927). Dan Cornish sold his shoe shop in 1932 (it became Murrell's newsagency). Black and white image which shows buildings in Sussex Street, Linton. The building in the foreground, the Linton Public Library, has a car parked in front of it. Other buildings are the house owned by the Nelson family, the Railway Hotel, Dan Cornish's shoe shop and the weighbridge. A gas lamp is attached to the verandah of the library building. Ruby Sandow ran a general store and confectionary business there in the 1930s and 1940s, while living at the premises with her husband John and their daughter Catherine (known as Kitty).Coloured photocopy of document which certifies that fire insurance policy no. 13996325 has been renewed from 17/7/1937 to 17/7/1938, for buildings in Sussex Street Linton consisting of "Dwelling, General Store & Wash-house".
