Sabina and William Henry Mills lived at "Golden Valley", Upper Diamond Creek (Wattle Glen) and had nine children in total. Here they are pictured with seven young children. Sabina died in 1916 aged 57 and William died in 1921 age 64. They are buried together at Diamond Creek (Nillumbik) cemetery. Thomas Fairbridge came to Cockatoo about 1919 to manage the store for his brother-in-law Henry Knight and later bought it. The shop continued to operate as Fairbridges after Thomas died in 1941. St. Marys Catholic Church is now known as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Macedon Street, Sunbury. From information written on the back of the photograph it was believed to be the Presbyterian Church Bulla. This being the case, it was relocated because of the construction of the International Airport. Henry Pearson was a dentist in Numurkah between 1911 and 1929 (referenced in Bossence book) This document is an agreement between Pearson and Leonard Bennett (son of Ernest Bennett, Hairdresser, who was the witness to this document). the agreement was that Pearson would take on Leonard as an apprentice in profession of Mechanical Dentist. The documents then goes on to outline what was involved in the apprenticeship: days, hours, bord, Yellowed legal document outlining Articles of Apprenticeship, dated 16th January, 1915. These vestments were purchased by Monsignor Henry Nolan and re-sold to his fellow priests in the diocese to raise money for Vietnamese orphanage children following the Vietnam conflict. Monsignor Nolan served as a military chaplain in Vietnam. Two articles that relate to the Legacy appeal in 1977. The appeal was opened by the Governor of Victoria, Sir Henry Winneke. The articles were cut from the newspaper and pasted into a scrapbook. Emma Keys was born in England in 1842 to parents Charles Keys and Mary Ann, née Black. She married George Henry Smith in 1860, after which they sailed from Liverpool bound for Happy Valley. Emma and George Smith had fourteen children. Amelia (Millie) Bennett, born 1872 at Linton, was the daughter of William Garnsworthy Bennett and Susan Bennett née Williams. She married William Charles Allen in 1901. They had two children, William Henry, born 1901, and Josephine, born 1910. Millie Bennett died in 1948. This book was given as a school prize to Walter Wright by the Wangoom School in 1873. The name ‘Wangoon’ is on the printed book plate – is this a misprint or an alternative spelling of ‘Wangoom’? Wangoom State School, No. 645, on the Warrnambool/Wangoom Road was opened in 1865 as a Common School. The school is now closed. The Hon. William Bayles, a Melbourne businessman with property near Macarthur, first became a member of the Legislative Council for Villiers and Heytesbury in 1864 and continued until 1880. He was a prominent and popular politician in Warrnambool, regularly giving prizes to pupils of schools in his electorate and in 1872 he offered a £10 prize for the best student in the district. No specific information has been found on Walter Wright or any family named Wright residing in the Wangoom area. There was a piano tuner named W. Wright in the Warrnambool area in the 1870s. Was this Walter’s father? This book is of interest because of the connection with Wangoom School, the Hon. William Bayles and Walter Wright. More interest will be created if information comes to light on water Wright. This is a hard cover book of 333 pages plus 32 pages of advertisements for books published by Henry S. King and Co. The cover is dark red with an ornamental pattern in black on the front cover and lettering in gold on the front cover and spine. The book has three full page black and white illustrations with the illustration next to the first page missing. There is a printed book plate pasted onto the inside of the front cover with blue printing and ornamentation and a handwritten name and date.
