Sol Green came to Australia as a penniless migrant who made his fortune as a bookmaker. He was inducted into the Australian Racing Museum Hall of fame in 2002. He purchased the Shipley stud from George Rolfe about 1905 and set about turning the Ayrford cattle property into a successful horse stud. His horse Comedy King won the Melbourne Cup in 1910 and was retired to stud in 1912. He became one of the top 10 Australian Stallions in the ensuing years. He dispersed his stud at Shipley in 1918 and this catalogue lists the stock sold that day. The property remained in the Green family and continued as a dairy farm with cheese factory and piggery by his son Bob Green. Sol Green was known for his philanthropic gestures extending help where needed on various fronts. Shortly before his death in 1948 he donated 47000 pounds to five Melbourne hospitals.This catalogue has significance firstly on a local level in that Shipley was an important farm in the district and secondly that it was owned by Mr Sol Green who was a person of standing within the racing industry as a bookmaker but also as a stud owner and owner of a Melbourne cup winner in 1910. This catalogue lists the stock which he had established at Shipley in a relatively short period of time.Light grey card cover with horse in brown. This book is based firmly on substantial extracts from Hoddle's own diary and other writings. The Norman Oliver collection. Norman Oliver was three times Mayor of Bendigo - 1950-51, 1964-65, 1970-71. a) Seventeen pages of typed notes for a speech. Topics include : The story of the taxi cab, Your library, Regional library development, Land reclamation, Traffic control, A point about parking, Social (visit to Fortuna by Major General Brown Director of Ordnance survey, British Army), The historical society. Undated, but next to other notes marked 1951. b) a donation letter headed 'The Mayor Speaks' states: Herein are the texts of addresses given by the Mayor Cr N.J Oliver over Radio Station 3BO, together with other talks given by him. They were given to Alex H Stone by Mr Oliver on his leaving Bendigo. The Wangaratta Historical Society Inc. (WHS) was established in 1959 and moved into its present home in the 1970s. Wangaratta in North East Victoria has a population of over 27 thousand people and is situated at the junction of the King and the Ovens Rivers. Agriculture has always been a big part of its history as well as education, health and manufacturing. The museum was originally a fire station built 1895 and included living quarters for its staff. The building is owned by the Rural City of Wangaratta who are great supporters of the WHS The museum was bequeathed 10,000 glass negatives from the late 1800s to the 1950s these were by the Vine & Thelma studios of mostly, portraits, weddings and historical photos. Also owned by the WHS is the Maianne Gibson crazy patchwork quilt made by a Wangaratta woman in the 1890s and now Heritage listed. This Quilt is housed in an specially controlled conditions. The Wangaratta Historical Society Museum was accredited in 2012 under the Museums Accreditation Program.

Clare Roper collected and maintained newspaper clippings of historical interest to the Kiewa Valley Historical Society.Clare Roper grew up and lived in the Kiewa Valley at Tawonga. She was a member of the Kiewa Valley Historical Society for many years.A vanilla, green with sunset picture 'Photo Album' used to save newspaper clippings dated 1949 to late 1980s mostly covering the North East of Victoria. The Photo Album has 3 steel rings that snap open and shut. The pages have a clear plastic sheet that lifts off to place the newspaper cuttings which then 'stick' to the page.
