Negative (120) of a cable tram grip car and saloon car 565 outside the Nicholson St Winding house tram stop, with several passengers walking from the tram, the conductor attending to the "dolly" for the Gertrude Street cable so the gripmen can line it up with grip and the grip man looking down. In the image are adverts for Col. W. de Basil's Covent Garden show at Her Majesty's Theatre, Fosters Lager, Hoyts De Luxe Bourke St a Richard Greene film. Nos. 7-23 were 5-compartment side loading cars, built from 1906-1915. Nos. 24-27 were the former NAB class cars mentioned previously and were also side loading, having 6 compartments and two ladies toilets. Rescued by the Puffing Billy Preservation Society from Ocean Grove Victorian in Nov 2010 Nov 2010 Two carriages have been rescued from Ocean Grove where they had been built into a house. They are now at Emerald, one being a platform NB carriage and the other a swing door NB carriage. Storage of these vehicles is being considered. Many people were involved in the move: thanks go to Raymond and Thelma Cotter for providing tarps to protect the cars from the elements. Dec 2010 Two carriages rescued from Ocean Grove are now at Emerald, one being a platform NB car (6NB) and the other a 2nd Class swing door carriage. Bell used by the conductor or passengers to signal to the driver - stop, proceed or an emergency stop. The actual bell and part of the striker are missing. The striker has been broken off. The "JS" indicates it was made by John Stephenson of New York who made tramway equipment and the first cable tram saloon cars for Melbourne. Demonstrates a conductors communication or signal bell made for use on tramcars.Part of a brass Conductor Communication Bell, or signal bell, consisting of cast frame, part of the bell striker and bell pull part. This cart came from Sederlan's Bakery - Newmerella and Orbost. It had been used outside the premises as advertising. The original chassis had been added to extensively with shafts, wheels and tyres added. This axle appears to have part of the cart - either a baker's or butcher's cart. The original cart may have been a butcher's or baker's cart.A wooden two-wheeled cart painted cream. It has a wooden ply top and is fully enclosed. The chassis seems to be original with the rest having been re-constructed from non-original materials. Mt Beauty HES school was created for the children of the employees of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria who were constructing the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme at the head of the Kiewa Valley at the new town of Mount Beauty. Mt Beauty School consisted of Mt Beauty Higher Elementary School 1948-1964 before it was split into the current (2023) Mt Beauty Primary School and Mt Beauty High School. See.
