The newsletter covers topics such as Advertising for Christmas, Caulfield Council elections, shop trading hours, Caulfield High School’s Dutch auction and membership numbers. Because of the original September issue of the newsletter having gone missing in transit and the need for a replacement newsletter, a number of new items and advertising have been omitted for which an apology is offered. 2/A small round metal medallion inscribed with the words ‘Elsternwick Shoppers’ League member’ on one side with a small hole punched through at the top. Age unknown. 3/An envelope in which the medallion is held which has written on it ‘Elsternwick Shoppers’ League Member’s Medallion’ and ‘Donor M. Three three page extracts from Andrew Ward’s 1994 Caulfield Conservation Study on commercial buildings in Glen Huntly Road, Elsternwick. The three studies concern Moore’s Buildings 1891 shops at 305-313 Glen Huntly Road, shops at 323-329 Glen Huntly Road and E J Buckeridge’s Buildings 1911 shops at 357-371 Glen Huntly Road. The studies describe the buildings’ architectural features, provide a historical overview and statements of the buildings’ significance, especially in relation to the Land Boom and commercial development between 1890 to the 19020s. This file contains four items about William Cowley Watts, brother of Thomas Henry Watts:. 1/ Photocopy of two articles from newspapers on one page. One entitled "Portait for the Mayoral Gallery" (Caulfield Contact 01/09/1988) relates to a portrait of William Cowley Watts, who was the Shire President of Caulfield in 1876 and 1883, being added to Council's memorial gallery of Mayors. The other entitled "GLENHUNTLY-steeped in history" (Southern Cross 18/06/1986) states that the history of the suburb Glenhuntly is derived from the house Glen Huntly built in 1855 as the home of Thomas Watts. It was the first architect designed house in Caulfield. A black and white photograph of the house with Thomas Watts' family is included in the Southern Cross article.
