On the 17th of October, 2000, Arthritis Victoria (incorporating Osteoporosis Victoria) held a seminar on World Osteoporosis Day (WOD). The event was held at the Glen Eira Town Hall Auditorium. 200 participants attended the seminar, which included guest speakers and information displays. On the 10th of October, 2002, Arthritis Victoria (AV) held a Community Seminar and a Health Professionals Seminar in Orbost (East Gippsland) as part of its Rural and Regional Education (RARE) Program. Both seminars were presented by Nurse Denise Philpott. On the following day, the 11th of October, Nurse Philpott presented a donation of books from Arthritis Victoria to the Orbost Library. Course leaders were trained to deliver the program, which utilised Kate Lorig and James F Fries' landmark self-help book, "The Arthritis Helpbook".
