At the outbreak of World War II, the RAN Reserve Forces comprised: RANR (S), 86 officers; RANR, 222 officers, 3869 ratings; RANVR, 223 officers. In order to balance the numbers in the permanent service at post-war complements, Reserve training was suspended during the War; all new entry personnel were entered through the RANR and they signed an agreement for the duration of hostilities instead of the customary 12 years engagement. Officers and potential officers, meanwhile, were entered as members of the RANR (S) or the RANVR.The Royal Australian Naval Reserves (RANR) can trace its origins back to at least 1863 and the formation of the New South Wales Naval Brigade.Booklet detailing a brief history and operation of the RAN Reserve.Royal Australian Naval Reserve; Non Sibi Set Patriaeroyal australian naval reserve, ran reserve, information booklet

In 1910 six acres of land for a reserve was donated to the people of St. Albans by Alice Errington. The land would provide recreation facilities for the communities of two shires, Braybrook & Keilor. The land was located in the Shire of Braybrook on the south side of Boundary Rd (now Main Rd East) with the Shire of Keilor on the north side. In 1929 the Trustees of the Reserve offered to invest the land to Braybrook Council. This decision was driven by the fact that technically the reserve was still private property and was subject to rates and costs for making of the roads abutting the reserve. One condition of this agreement was the land to remain for the use by the community. Over the years the reserve has been the home of tennis, football, cricket & scout clubs. It has hosted many open air and carnival events. In the 1950's the St. Albans Community Youth Club built their tin shed on the north - west corner of the reserve using a former Army Nissan (Quonset) hut. Mrs Alice Erringting died in 1931 and in 1937 wrought iron Memorial Gates were installed at the entrance to the reserve in her honor.1460.01 - The Errington Reserve 1460.02 - Errington Reserve - Alice Errington 100th Anniversary Plaque Unveiling 20th December 2010 Flyer 1460.03 - Errington Reserve - The Errington Reserve Proof Copy By Tom Rigg 2011 1460.04 - Errington Reserve - Timelineerrington reserve, reserve, main road east, st. albans, alice errington

The Framlingham Aboriginal Trust is a shareholder- owned organization established under Victorian law in 1971. The Trust owns and manages part of what was the old Aboriginal Reserve established in 1861 under the auspices of the Church of England. In 1865 the Reserve was officially established as a Government-managed aboriginal station. By 1970 the original area of 3,500 acres was whittled down to 585 acres and handed over to the Framlingham Aboriginal Trust. Framlingham is today one of only two discrete aboriginal communities in Victoria where aborigines live on aboriginal land and is an important part of the district cultural life. The celebration of the 150th anniversary of Framlingham’s establishment in 2014 was therefore a significant event in the district’s history and the booklet is a permanent reminder of this. This is a small booklet of 8 pages containing information on the 150th celebrations of Framlingham Aboriginal Reserve in 2014. The cover has a cream background with illustrations and printed material in yellow, black and brown. The pages are stapled. The booklet includes photographs, maps, illustrations and printed material. Hugo Hans Hohne (dec. 1978) and wife Lelia (dec. 2000) - she used to breed dogs - lived in South Eltham near Eltham Lower Park, on Homestead Rd, 1940-c.1970? The Hohnes Hill Reserve in South Eltham along Hohnes Rd is named after them. The family’s location in Homestead Rd was common knowledge at the time. Hohnes Rd was an unnamed Government road that was named by the Council probably in the 1980s. Hohnes Hill Reserve was probably named later. We do not have any records of when the road and reserve were named. Dear Reader,/ I hope you'll enjoy sharing with me an account of some of the excitement and/ drama of events through history on the old Yarra Track.
