Heamostop is a haemostatic agent, prescribed for the management of blood loss in menorrhagia, and after surgery. It reduces bleeding from very small blood vessels (capillaries). The chemical in this vial is in a powder form. This product is now supplied in the form of tablets and injections. The text on the vial reads "Haemostop stops bleeding. After swabbing the wound, Haemostop should be sprinkled or sprayed on as quickly as possible. Enough should be used to leave a definite dry residue on the wound. Where the blood oozes through the powder, more powder should be applied."This vial is an example of chemicals used with surgery and excessive bleeding in the early 20th century.
