The St Peter Chapel opened in 1917. Funding came primarily from the Ladies Harbour Lights Guild. The artwork "And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter" was donated by Mr R. Stewart Murray in 1940. The base of the round tower dates back to the 11th century around the time of the Norman Conquest. It collapsed in 1822. In the 15th century the benches in the south aisle were constructed, originally without backs. The screen now painted brown was painted in colours during the Middle Ages. There is practically no stained glass in this church except for a small Flemish 15th century panel in the east window and a tiny head in the window in the south aisle of the nave. Evidence of the destructive work of the Reformers can be seen on the font where chisel marks can be seen, and the removal of a rood beam or loft. This was reached by a staircase, the remains of which can be seen near the pulpit. The pulpit is part of a 17th century three-decker. The hour glass used to time sermons is still in place near the pulpit. There are a few personal memorials in the church. Ingworth has for centuries been a village run b the people living in it. Many of them now lie in the churchyard, while at least one member of the Harmer family from Baconsthorpe and Ingworth emigrated to Australia, settling in Victoria. Two auction catalogues of a sale at the Commonwealth Disposals at Maribyrnong on 12 February, 1947.The front page of the catalogue has a black and white photo of the inside of a building with a lot of machinery along each side of the aisle. Items are part of a collection of Legacy items from Valma Hutchinson (nee Wigg), a former junior legatee. Valma was accepted into Junior Legacy club in 1940 when she was about 10 years old. She had collected the newspaper clippings of notices in the newspapers for Miss Carre's 90th birthday and also her death notices. The sentiments expressed show how much she was respected by the former Junior Legacy girls. The photocopy includes a picture of 90th birthday celebrations for Miss Carre at Legacy house. A copy of the photo of the girls at Mt Evelyn camp had already been received from Valma Hutchinson (nee Wigg) and is at 01437. It is mentioned that she and her good friend June were in the photo and would have been 16 at the time. Miss Carre is also seen, seated wearing red, in the photo of L/- Grattan's 100th. More photos of Legatee Grattan's 100th are at 00964. A note sent to Legacy with the items mentions Legatee Grattan walked Valma down the aisle at her wedding and that Valma and her daughter would frequently put flowers on his plot in Springvale cemetery.An example of the long term friendship of Junior Legatees that they attend reunions and stay in contact. The article in the Herald of the day describes the event: "WEDDING AT SEAMEN'S CHAPEL Reception at Hotel Windsor The pretty little chapel at the Seamen's Institute was packed with interested friends this afternoon, when Miss Dora Walker, one of the Mission's most enthusiastic and efficient voluntary helpers, chose it as the setting for her marriage with Mr H. P. Simpson, son of Mr and Mrs J. H. Simpson, of Mornington. A group of her fellow workers decorated the chapel with lovely pink and white gladioli, carnations and roses. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. R. Weller, chaplain of the Mission, and the bride was given away by her father, Mr A. W. Walker, of Manning road, East Malvern. She wore a lovely ivory georgette frock, the finely tucked skirt being fashioned with a deep transparent hem of Chantilly lace. Over it fell a beautiful Honiton lace veil mounted on tulle and arranged to give the ef fect of a train. Fragrant white roses composed her bouquet. Two attendants followed her down the aisle — her sister, Miss Molly Walker, and Miss Ella Kendall — both wearing dainty shrimp pink georgette frocks and large crinoline straw hats in the same shade with a dainty edging of tulle. They carried bouquets of pink cactus dahlias nnd delphiniums. Mr Louis Buscombe was best man, and Mr George Thompson grooms man. The Daylesford Uniting Church (formerly Wesleyan /Methodist Church) was built in 1865, replacing an earlier Wesleyan Chapel built in 1861 which is still on site and known as the Sunday School (2024). The foundaton stone for the newer, current church was laid on 12 June 1865, designed by Architects Crouch and Wilson the structure was built in early English Gothic style. The first service was held in the new church on 10 December 1865. It is of interest for its brick broach spire, diapered brick façade and spacious interior with aisles separated from the nave by slender columns. The church organ was installed and built in 1888 by William Anderson and boasts an impressive 724 pipes, many of which are decorated with Christian symbols. This organ is a rare example of Anderson’s work and is his only instrument in Western Victoria. It is classified by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) as being of state significance. The organ was renpvated in 1979-80 by Leighton Turner. It has 2 manuals, 14 speaking stops, 3 couplers, tracker action, Gt: 8.8 divided.8.4.4.2-2/3.2. Sw: 8.8.4.2.8. Ped: 16. In the 1880s the decline in mining led to the congregation considering ways to reduce debt. Rent was received from pew hire as well as organ concerts and annual fairs. By the end of the 19th century the church had settled into a pattern of steady parish life.
