... The boots first worn by women extended to the middle of the calf so that her ankle would stay properly covered underneath her many skirts. ...Pair of ankle length black ladies' boots with long tan coloured laces....The boots first worn by women extended to the middle of the calf so that her ankle would stay properly covered underneath her many skirts. ...Starting in around 1850, women began wearing boots that resembled the ones already worn by men in high society. Women’s Victorian boots were slightly more feminine in nature, however, than those worn by their male counterparts. The boots first worn by women extended to the middle of the calf so that her ankle would stay properly covered underneath her many skirts. These boots often featured laces or a row of buttons to keep them secure to the foot and ankle. Although usually made from durable materials like rubber and leather, boots that were worn purely for fashion were sometimes made of more elegant materials like patent leather or dyed suede. Fashion boots from the Victorian era exude all of the opulence and decadence that are unique to that time period. Design elements like scalloped trims, intricate embroidery, and lace accents were also not uncommon when it came to elaborately designed Victorian boots. Unlike men’s boots, they also boasted a slight heel that was thinner and more feminine in design. How lavish a woman’s boots were greatly depended upon how much money her family had and her place within society. While footwear was standard during this time, shoes were still quite a luxury to the modern Victorian. Only very wealthy women owned multiple pairs of boots that featured eye-catching design elements. https://www.wardrobeshop.com/blogs/victorian-era/an-in-depth-look-at-victorian-footwear These boots appear to be of a practical nature, designed for comfort, warmth, and proof against the rain and mud, rather than high fashion. These ladies' boots are historically significant for their manufacture and use during the Victorian period.Pair of ankle length black ladies' boots with long tan coloured laces.flagstaff hill, warrnambool, shipwrecked-coast, flagstaff-hill, flagstaff-hill-maritime-museum, maritime-museum, shipwreck-coast, flagstaff-hill-maritime-village, boots, victorian, leather, footwear -

In our collective experience, we used these types of restraints to ensure patient safety, to minimise self harm by confused patients (for many reasons - head injury, post op, drug induced) who would otherwise have interfered with treatments (remove intravenous, remove dressing) or fall out of bed.Limb Holders, also known as Limb Restraints, are designed to limit the movement of wrists and/or ankles in patients assessed to be at risk of disrupting life-saving treatment, pulling lines/tubes, exacerbating skin conditions, compromising wound site integrity, or self-injury.pair of tan leather wrist straps (can be used for ankles) with cream felted lining, belt strap with buckle for securing in place, machine stitching to edge of leather to attach felted padding in place, silver studs x 2 holding leather belt in place, silver metal buckle and loop on belt.176.87 written in black ink on leather section of cuff, also white paper sticker with blue ink 176.87patient safety, restraints, ahnl -

... Brown leather child's shoe with an ankle strap, fastening with a mother-of-pearl button. ...Brown leather child's shoe with an ankle strap, fastening with a mother-of-pearl button. ...This child's shoe was found underneath the floorboards of the historic Brighton house St Ninian's, 10 Miller Street, during its demolition in September 1974. One of Brighton's earliest buildings, St Ninian's was built around 1841 for merchant, politician and former British naval officer George Ward Cole (1783-1879) and his family. Ward Cole was a prominent member of Victorian society in the mid-to-late nineteenth century. He served in the Victorian Parliament from 1853-55 and 1859-79. His seaside home in Brighton was a fashionable rendezvous for many important identities who shaped Melbourne’s history. Victoria’s first royal visitor, Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, was a guest there in 1867. It is possible the shoe belonged to one of the Ward Cole children. During the demolition of St Ninian's in September 1974 the Brighton Historical Society's then-secretary, Rosalind Landells, snuck onto the work site in the hope of saving some part of the building and its history. She found this shoe under the partially-demolished floor of the house.Brown leather child's shoe with an ankle strap, fastening with a mother-of-pearl button.
